*** Elden Ring ***

Is this performing ok on PC? I'm considering a purchase but wondering if it would perform better on PS5?

There were some issues at the launch with stuttering, but it's fine now. Note, it's locked to 60fps and no UW support. Both can be fixed with Flawless Widescreen, but playing online with those fixed will result in a ban.

Just completed this game after 170 hours.

Fantastic game.

Only other From Software game I played is Sekiro which is also a master piece.

Much hard than Elden Ring as well.

If any one hasn't played that I highly recommend it.

In the time I spent with Elden Ring it I had 3 issues:

Twice it froze on loading a new area and the Dung Eater never showed up for me after I completed he's quest line where the message said he would be.

I find Sekiro too difficult, which is why I haven't bothered with Elden Ring.

Elden Ring is easier than Sekiro.

They are both masterpieces in their own right.

Elden Ring is easier due to the fact you can use different weapons, spells and talismans to make the fight easier.

In Sekiro you don't have that option. Its one weapon, one way of fighting which is the parry system and posture and that's it.

Also the bosses in Elden Ring are far simpler fights. In Sekiro you have to learn the bosses dance. It really is a much more hard core fighting system.

As far as I am concerned Sekiro is the better game. Better story (Elden ring doesnt really have one) and the bosses are far more complicated.

Both are 10/10 games but for different reasons.

Pure melee build without ashes and magic, I'd say this is harder than Sekiro because they overtuned the bosses to hell and back to account for new mechanics. If you use everything they give you then it definitely isn't that hard but lategame bosses are pretty tough. Still, it's completely different than Sekiro when it comes to gameplay, way more accessible and, as you say, you can definitely make the game easier if you want.

Lord of Blood no summons and magic was problematic for me, Malenia I only tried a couple of times but I'm very bad at dodging Waterfowl, which makes her damn hard. Terribly designed move, tbh. I'm in the endgame areas but took a break because I play on PC less now.

Agreed on both games though, Elden Ring is amazing particularly when it comes to location design, uncovering lore and the sheer amount of secrets/NPC interactions but Sekiro's combat is one of the best systems ever. I found it just about right in terms of challenge because the combat was just my cup of tea.

Here a few fights just to show how the fighting system and bosses in Sekiro are so much better than Elden Ring.

There aren't any bosses in Elden Ring with this level of technical fighting.

Obviously these videos make it look easy as they have been uploaded by a person well practised and must be a successful fight other wise they wouldn't have posted it.

All these enemies took me many many many attempts.

I hope they port Bloodborne to the PC as I've never played it.

Me too, played it on my PS4 but rarely get much time on it so havent done more then a few levels. Very hard but so rewarding..

Feel like buying Sekiro or Elden Ring, dont know which one works better on Steam deck. Plus which one is easier lol.

Elden Ring is easier and gives you far more options to play it 'your way.'

Both are exceptional titles.

Elden Ring if you want a pure RPG. Exploring and tons of secrets and loot to find.

Sekiro for the challenging combat system and that sense of reward when you do finally kill that boss.

Bloodborne is the only From game that edges out Sekiro for me when it comes to the overall package just because Sekiro somewhat dropped the ball in terms of level design and lore, whereas Bloodborne is From at their absolute best when it comes to both and has great combat to boot, much faster and more aggressive than DS. Also, best bosses hands down, especially the amazing DLC. I still prefer Sekiro's combat but overall BB wins as a game. The problem is, it's unplayable in 2022 at 30fps.

Elden Ring is not far behind those two because of the world and legacy dungeons alone but I still prefer Soulborne games as they were before.

Also, I think Sekiro's difficulty is a bit overstated, though it's definitely challenging:p

I'll be starting DS Remake soon.

Watching back those videos I posted above of Sekiro the thing I forgot to mention is the intensity of the fights.

The first time you fight Genichiro Ashina you think it's one round. The you realize it's 2 and finally you realise it's actually 3 rounds!

It takes a lot of practice and concentration to pull it all off over three rounds. It's super hard and really gratifying when you do kill him.

As fantastic as Elden Ring is it doesn't have this level of intensity in the boss battles.

On the flip side Elden Ring is basically Dark Souls Zelda. A huge open world filled to the brim with hand crafted dungeons, secrets and loot which combined is like the size of 5 games combined.

I recommend both to any body.

Elden Ring will have better graphics too being 3 years newer (2022 title).

Incidentally I have not played any Dark Souls game.

I have this on the XSX and not played hardly at all..really want to get round to it, is it worth getting on pc instead to play through?

really depends on your setup. Elden ring plays well on console but has some FPS drops, but if you have a good tv like an oled then it can look amazing. Most people just have SDR pc monitors so you lose that

Bought this last week, pretty impressed tbh. First time ive played this type of RPG (bloodborne was great but didnt play for more then a few hours) properly.

Managed to get the horse, ashes of war, accidently ended up in cilium mines or something. wow that was hard to escape.

Also levelled up my health about 5 times. nvm..
