Elden Ring

That's me level 38 and have cleared out the castle but I'm disgusted with myself because I summoned help on the two boss fights and used the big jellyfish. I never summoned once in any of the other games. :(

Don't worry, your masculinity isn't at stake here. Did you have to reapply your makeup after?

Dont feel bad, they're game mechanics so intentional usage ;) Especially ashes, I use them all the time.

I've not used any ashes yet as I've been trying to nail the parry timing with the shield.

I killed the big beastie in the castle basement and the dragon down at the water on my own so at least I'm still a bit manly.

I'm so bad at this game but improving now using the controller. I think I am going to need to grind out to level 50 to even have a chance at beating Margrit - tried at level 35 last night and only managed about 25% of their health and most of that was likely the dogs :)

There is a device available for sale by Patch that restrains Margrit for a short while

Don't use the dogs, use the jellyfish as it isn't on the ground so more immune to slam attacks. Also, put yourself on the other side of the boss because every time the jellyfish shoots poison at it it'll turn its back to you. With the dogs it's constantly spinning around and it's hard for you not to take damage as you move in. Added bonus is that once it gets poisoned you can try and just run away until it dies if you want. :)

There's also an NPC to summon just outside
the room.

If you're using a shield then don't neglect to put points into endurance. That's what let's you tank hits without your guard breaking.

Finally, he can be parried but it's easier just to roll into him to get behind.

I am not apologizing for summoning NPC's! By any means necessary if I lack the skills to do it by myself (which I generally do). Wish I'd known about the Patches thing I'd have used it in a heartbeat!
Took 2 for me but yeah they are nasty and super accurate. Couple of really useful items there.
Yeah the fisrt time it happened I don't think I had 100% health. It took 2 the second time and I lost 15K 'souls'. I am a squishy mage still I can't take much. Need to up my stats a bit to get some better armour.

Hypocrisy incoming: I don't like using guides to find stuff as it's more fun to find it organically, but I saw someone mention an S (int) staff and googled it and went and got it. I'm not sure I'd have gotten as far as I have without it and the spell nearby.

I'm of the opinion that you're never going to find everything in a game like this. I went and got that staff and spell as well after reading about it.
