Energy Prices (Strictly NO referrals!)

I guess potentially they are going to become worth a lot more soon, but I guess that depends on if they sold energy at a fixed rate on contracts they can't change or not.

I’m not an expert but I’m under the impression that the grid sets the price and if you generate it you get paid for it.

Even if that is not the case all hedges come to an end.

offshore wind was supposed to be the cheapest form of generation so I would expect the investors are happy at the moment.

it doesn't represent a flexible generation portfolio though, so they have to give it away, to the likes of octopus, during off-peak negative spots.

No the government are limiting the rises with subsidies as we had caps. As soon as the election is over they’ll creep in rises.

French nuclear at the moment is down on production because of repairs needed.

obviously there is an element of this but even with “French nuclear is down” it still is producing 60+% of demand.

but it is practically unmanned, not like a traditional power station, so is this a problem? Also I don’t think there has been any -ve cost for a while and unlikely to be in the medium to long term.

10% under normal operating capacity at the moment and likely to stay that way for a while due to a large renovation/refit program. One reactor at our local nuclear plant was out of service for refit last year and the other will be down for the same for the next 10 months.

There’s group of EDF specialists called Les Nomads Nucléaire who basically go from plant to plant upgrading and refitting.

Wouldn't it be more profitable to just slam the brakes on and save wear and tear, extend the maintenance cycle or whatever, than to give electric away.

If Premier is the one wiht 4K HDR and the additional devices then you would be FAR better off cancelling yer sub

Does that just have to be done once then when it renews it stays at that price? I'm asking as we currently have nrtflix through sky but it's getting cancelled soon so I'll need to set it up.

I don't know why there isn't more coverage of this national crisis.

This could be the poll tax of this generation.
I think the Ukraine situation is distracting people currently, but I think we will get to poll tax levels of dissatisfaction if the government don't do something (and I don't think a £200 loan or £150 off council tax is going to cut it). It's not a few poor people that can be ignored by most now, it's going to hit everyone.

While the politicians in Westminster has the radiators blasting and windows open and lights on when nobody is there at night.
and the same is going on in many office blocks nearly every building in a city/town has its heating on and lights on all the time when nobody is there.

Yet they're likely the same ones screaming about climate change when not in the office.
