Energy Prices (Strictly NO referrals!)

Tracked down the in day adjustment, starts at page 25 of this

"BL01 Step 3 – Calculate In Day Adjustment (only applies to ‘Domestic’ DFS Unit Types) The Unadjusted Baseline Values create a profile shape for a day based on previous days’ data, but will not account fully for variations in factors such as weather and temperature. For this reason, In Day Adjustments are used to provide an up or down lift, ensuring the values used in settlement calculations are better representative of conditions on the day. The In Day Adjustment will consider actual Metered data over the three hour period up until one hour ahead of the relevant Settlement Period when the service starts to deliver. This will be compared to the calculated values and an additive adjustment applied to ensure that the profile created by the baseline best matches real data for the run up to the Settlement Period. In other words: In Day Adjustment = ∑j (Unit Meter Point Metered Volume – Unadjusted Baseline Value) 6 where ∑j represents summation over the six Settlement Periods in the “In Day Reference Window”. The In Day Reference Window is defined as the three-hour period ending at one hour ahead of the first Settlement Period in Settlement Day D."

I think it will also encourage people to game the system by load-shifting into peak times, so they can load-shift back out when paid.

It seems like it's self-defeating in some ways, which is why I think something like encouraging off-peak usage with agile like tariff makes more sense.
It seems very clumsy and cumbersome, and open to abuse like you said.

Shame they done it this way instead of "if you use less than a % of your overall energy at peak we will pay you" or just outright subsidising agile type tariffs to encourage off peak use.

Aren't smart meters great.

"It turns out we couldn't retrieve readings from your meter for the Saving Session on 15th Nov.

Because you opted in, we're still going to assume you got involved and saved power - so we've credited you the average earned by customers in this Session."

Mine says the same. There is usually a delay for when these things appear. Look at the usage data it will only show yesterday and not same day data so I expect tomorrow or the day after it will resolve itself.

Well, it looks like it was worth signing up to support the scheme even when I use no energy from the grid at the time.

I didnt get the message, I think I forgot to activate the saving session? My saving sessions dashboard just says we will let you know when the next session starts.

It's just a strange message to post up If they were just waiting to sort out the readings.

Why not say.... we will update the results in due course and notify you? (Like in the previous trial).

wouldn't you have taken the reading yourself off of the IHD

the poor functionality of the Apps/IHD - absence of 30s monitoring with real time graphs doesn't make it a sexy product.

Not sure if EDF are doing the scheme, not heard anything.

e-on next's the only other big supplier

e: baseline is more complicated than previously mentioned

You wont is the point. Neither would I. It is in the FAQ but it is based on last 10 days data. All mine would show that I use around 70watt.

The times and days are random for random durations so you can't deliberately build a buffer to suit and they use 10 days historical data and only announce the time time and duration 24hrs before.
I doubt the times will be random. surely they will be when the grid is under most load which is surely almost always 3:30- 6:30 so in that window.
(I imagine Xmas day could be an exception and half time during the WC final if England get there ;)

So in Scotland you don’t have a water meter and you just pay a flat rate in your council tax. Surely I could hook up a water wheel to one of my taps and a turbine and hey presto, free electricity?
Spec me what I need friends!
