Energy Suppliers

I beleive the online v9 is the best on offer at the moment and im not expecting that to be around much longer given todays announcements.

@Buckster got the below on his Eon Next V9 online which isnt too different from what @Beans on toast Dave got from his Eon Energy Fix 1 V9 quote

Elect 26.98/KW standing 40.2
Gas 5.53/KW standing 42.31

I finally got into my account and managed to get the V9 with same figures as @Beans on toast Dave.

Thanks for heads up :)

So no reason not to try for Eon Next V9 then

scot elec 20.171p/kwh - 23.68p
scot gas 3.975p/kwh - 24.87

V9 ELEC +34%
V9 GAS +39%

If thats for a year and Sept brings an additional +20% as estimated below then probably for the best.
The standing charge is an extra 70% though its not most people primary concern its roughly an additional £120 over a year

[send me a referral link via trust if you have one, I might use it. Just looking for the moment]

I'm sure this has been answered previously many times, but is anyone taking the svr options offered to them?

Our fix ended yesterday and Octopus have put us on the svr, which is:

Gas -
4p / kw
26.11p standing charge

Electric -
19.95p / kw
24.38p standing charge

It seems quite a bit cheaper than even the best fixed deals. Those of you fixing, is it a case of better the devil you know / hedging your risk before the price cap increases?

Yes but they will change in April the fixed won't, do the sums, do you think you'll save money.

Similar situation here.

Trouble is the only options with Octopus if you're on their SVT are;

12m fixed -

Gas - 9.97p
Elec - 37.46p

or

"Loyal" 12m fixed

Gas - 8.8p
Elec - 33p

for me at least.

I managed to sign up to the eONNext Online v9 this morning right after the price cap announcement. It took me ages to login to my account as the Eonnext website must have been getting hammered.

Yeah, it seems pointless as the price cap rise won't even get close to that, from what I can see.

Wonder how the government think people who are already on the the poverty line are going to be able to afford any of this. I really feel for those people how many are going to have to go without because its between being warm/comfortable or food. I get prices increase but its such a massive jump in a short time, like hell are wages going to go up.

If its 54% on top of the current max SVT then electricity will jump from around 20p to 31p and gas from 4p to 6p but I'm not sure exactly of the new unit rates

People quoting price / month doesn't really help, prices are based on usage, not flat bills like mobile contracts or broadband.

Most people who pay DD monthly with estimates are often well off actual. I pay mine via DD but based on readings each month.

So the following are the average rates for direct debit on the New cap.
Subject to slight regional variations.

The cap is based on 2900 kWh Electric and 12,000 kWh Gas.

Gas
Standing Charge 27.22p a day (£99.35 a year, £8.28 Month)
7.37p per kWh (£884.40 a year for 12,000 kWh, £73.70 a Month)
Combined (£983.75 a year for 12,000 kWh, £81.98 a Month)

Electricity
Standing Charge 45.34p a day (£165.49 a year, £13.79 Month)
28.34p per kWh (£821.86 a year for 2,900 kWh, £68.49 a Month)
Combined (£987.35 a year for 2,900 kWh, £84.34 a Month)

Both combined (2900 kWh Electric and 12,000 kWh Gas)
£1,971.10 a year
£164.26 a Month DD

Final price could be subject to any deductions / rebates.
