Energy Suppliers

eon have a good fixed deal - a few posts back - lol

Currently paying £1,371.06 on my eon tarriff that runs out now, its saying if i dont renew its going to go upto £1,785.33.
Says moving to the E.ON Go Online 1 Year v18 it will be £1,550.12.
The cheapest one i can find using Eons own comparison thing on their site is £1,691.34

On Uswitch ive found a Yorkshire energy one fixed till oct 2019 thats £1,357.67 so even less than im paying now, so reckon i should move to this?

Edit: Forgot about money saving expert so just signing up to that now to have a look

You will be comparing Bulb with the current prices, not what they are rising to in November.
Even with the price rises they will still be cheaper most likely, not forgetting the £50 off and the fact you can leave anytime with no exit fees. Kind of a no brainer atm.

I checked just the other day and Bulb are still the best for me.

You might be surprised it's a fair price increase this time, was about £60 over a year more for me.

Their gas prices increased by roughly 1/3rd last Monday for new customers. Existing customers pay the new price from November. Electricity also saw a modest bump in price.

I'd be surprised if they're still anything like the cheapest for anyone on a dual fuel service.

Even factoring in £50 off? Find that hard to believe at least in the short term.

Still, can always switch to a different supplier in month 2 i suppose if that's the case.

Bulb is currently the 39th cheapest option for me, according to MSE's Cheap Energy Club. Outfox The Market comes out top, at £290/year less than Bulb.

Of the 38 suppliers that are cheaper than Bulb, quite a few of them have referral programmes, cashback offers, or voucher offers. Bulb's referral program is far from unique. So there's really no advantage to swapping just for the referral bonus (Well, no advantage for the referee. The referer gets a free £50...).

If anyone gets a competitive price from Bulb, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. They were a decent company. But their price rise was going to cost me another £213/year. I've managed to swap to another provider at £120/year cheaper. And that provider does the exact same referral scheme; I was referred, and I've referred two others. So that's another £150 off. The tariff is also fixed, which could be a very good thing if the current gas supply issues continue in to winter.

The only Bulb members I know who aren't bothered by the price rise are those on electricity only, and those who make a fair bit of money off referrals.

Who did you switch to?

Octopus still show as more expensive for me than Bulb, but i will check again in November and switch if they are cheaper.

Outfox the market are showing as £130 cheaper, but they are a pretty new company with very few reviews.
