England V India ***Clash of the Heavyweights*** Test, T20 and ODI Series

LolDhoni. Sehwag lasted longer and hasn't played in weeks. :|

Sigma, might do both :o :p

Dhoni gone in Northampton. His scores on this tour so far: 16, 28, 0, 5, 2. Not great reading

2 England bowlers have scored more in 1 innings, ouch.

Wow, Shastri really lost his cool with those comments. Whether or not the UK press is jealous of India's incredible cricket team (pmsl), he shouldn't get so irate about 'don't comment if you've never been bloody number 1' etc. Why on earth can people only have an opinion if their country has been #1 test side? Besides England's about to be #1, so maybe then he can confront Nasser's comments with a sensible attitude? Clown.

Here's the Shastri vs Hussain argument if anyone missed it: http://www.espnstar.com/videos/item649176/

Shastri really is a muppet. Wonder if it has anything to do with this?

Great to see Carberry doing so well today - forgot about his lung operation, I'm not sure what the situation is with that and whether he can start playing more regularly now though as we could do with more strength in depth in our batting reserves

Great article here:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-south-asia-14368372

The Times of India was cruelly blunt. "This team does not deserve to be the No 1 side in the world," it headlined on the front page in an uncharacteristic broadside and called India's performance a "craven surrender".

More damningly, it said that India's rise to the top of the Test rankings had been a result of a "statistical sleight of hand". Five of India's eight series wins - of the 11 series it had played - since October 2008 had come at home, and the other three had come against Bangladesh, West Indies and New Zealand, three of the weakest Test teams. The paper pointed out thoughtfully that India had drawn with South Africa both at home and away, and had not beaten the Sri Lankans on their home turf during this period. So India's ascendancy had been a "statistical miracle".

Nice to see not all India fans/reporters have tunnel-vision.

Where is TC btw? He has not returned.

England have announced a 13 man squad for the third npower Test that sees the return of Ravi Bopara. The full squad is here - Strauss, Anderson, Bell, Bopara, Bresnan, Broad, Cook, Finn, Morgan, Pietersen, Prior, Swann & Tremlett.

I was really hoping they would call up somebody like James Taylor and give him a chance rather than Bopara who has struggled in almost every test match he has played.

What I would like to see from that 13 man squad: Strauss, Cook, Bell, Pietersen, Morgan, Bresnan, Broad, Swann, Tremlett, Anderson. So we have 5 bowlers and bat all the way down to number 10, but the chances of that being the team that plays is very low...

Totally agree. This is a great opportunity to give a player a go in Test cricket. Calling Bopara up is a waste of time as we know what he's like, and he's rubbish!

So no Prior? And a team of 10? :p

True. Any news on the likes of Sehwag and Zaheer Khan? Are they fit enough to play? Something tells me that even if they are, and do play, the morale of the rest of the team would be so down in the dumps at getting utterly spanked by England in the first two Tests that even having Sehwag and Kahn back might do little to stop England rolling to a 3-0 series lead.

Sehwag got out pretty quickly, didn't seem physically unfit but didn't look comfortable at all.

Z Kahn .. well, India have only been bowling for a 'few overs' so far, so hard to tell. Still looks over weight though and only bowled 3 overs so far, went for 8/over and got pulled from the attack so.

I'm not convinced by Bopara but one thing I missed with Taylor earlier is that he's not scored a single hundred all season. I know this season hasn't exactly been flooded with runs, but that still seems rather poor. Bopara does at least have 3, and he'll be batting at either 5 or 6 rather than number 3 where he was before.

It also means we'll have a pretty decent backup bowling option - he's taken 24 wickets @33 this season, better than having to turn to KP to fill in the overs!

The odd thing is that Bresnan might have to be dropped to bring Tremlett back!
