English, CL & Europa League Football [12th - 18th Mar 2010] **spoilers**

One was against Chelsea who should have won it but for John Terry slipping over and the other they got a proper good hiding from a much better side.

should have, could have. In the end their equaliser was particularly fortunate in that match, might not have even got to penalties. So in 2 years we've lost to one side, in the final and yet you say we "fall to bits" when drawn against a big side

Yeah. Chelsea are hardly a big side, they haven't ever won the Champions league.

You fell to bits and got a lesson in football off barca :)

so there's 1 big side in the world then? And were they not a big side when we beat them the year before? Just face it, you said a silly thing and it's showing :p

And yep Chelsea have never won it, Milan have won it 7 times and we thrashed them though ;)

Can't see United winning it. When they get drawn against a big club they usually fall to bits.

Lets see....

Drawn with Roma and we beat them 8-3
Drawn with Roma again and beat them 3-0
Drawn with Barca and beat them 1-0
Drawn with Inter and beat them 2-0
Drawn with Arsenal and beat them 4-1
Drawn with Milan and beat them 7-2

Yep that's a real shocking record aint it

Not to mention the small point that over those last 3 seasons we've reached the Semi's the Final and another Final

What would be really good would be a United v Arsenal final in the CL, and a Liverpool v Fulham final in the EL. That would REALLY wind up the powers that be at Uefa. Both european finals being all english affairs would drive them nuts :)

Well Chelsea dropping out certainly improves our chances in the champs league, not sure it will do us any favours in the league though.

PMSL give over Shami...you only thrashed AC because their squad is ageing and they let Ancelotti go to Chelski whilst getting a manager who seems well out of his depth at AC. AC are no longer the team they used to be...they have an ageing squad like Chelski has at the moment.

Barca have faltered a bit but if they get past Stuttgart tonight then i expect them to go all the way and win the CL again...i dont think Utd has a chance of winning it in all honesty...they have the likes of Inter, Bayern and a few other teams that will probably give them a good run for their money...im hoping its either Bayern or Inter that Utd play next and fingers crossed one of them manages to knock out Utd...

Little bit bitter there? I thought that most english fans were not sad enough to wish english teams other than their own bad luck.

I would love to see united or arsenal win it but I will be supporting arsenal if united go out. You got beaten by a very good side with a very good manager.

United played a weak AC side but we did to them what Inter did to you. Tactically Inter and United got it right and it paid off, the margins in victory tell you about the quality of the sides united and inter beat.

Did you bother reading the rest of the thread? He was saying Chelsea weren't a big club because they hadn't won the CL, so I gave him a side we had beaten who had won it multiple times :p

We've beaten Inter before and the team hasn't changed much since then. Bayern have been on a steady decline for a few years now. I'd fancy us against both of those sides.

Write off Man Utd at your own peril guys, I just find it funny how people overlook our current form and general CL form over the last 3 years. And don't pay attention to YSMN, he's just a little sad because he has to watch football on Thursday nights. :p

This to be honest, we're a very very good side. With Rio and Vidic back we've got the best defence in Europe and with Rooney up front we've currently got the best striker in the world

If we did meet Barca in the final again as long as we've got Fletch in midfield I'd fancy us to beat them

Time will tell I guess

Is the draw for the next round this Friday? Is it the same as usual? The quarter finals determine directly the semis (i.e winner of A plays winner of B etc.)?

Bitter??...nope not in the slightest...ive never made it a secret at how much i despise both Utd and Chelski so if Arsenal go out then ill be supporting Barca if they go through...seeing as Barca is one of fave teams.

Btw i dont support Chelski...perhaps if you paid any attention you would know that;)
