English & CL Football [6th - 10th Mar 2010] **spoilers**

AC are a little better than Porto but wouldn't have caused any of the English teams much of a problem

A.C. Milan are a very good side, Porto are good, but not at the same level.

United were just much better last night.

How many people in the Porto squad had won a World Cup? European Cup?

lol, this is the same Porto that are THIRD in the Portuguese league? Hardly one of the top leagues in Europe. And how many players do they have that have won anything in Europe? Not many. Now compare that to Milan who are second in Serie A, one of the top leagues in Europe, and closing quickly on the leaders Inter, who someone said were up there with Barca, Chelsea and United as favourites. Then they have players all over the filed who have experience winning things at the highest level. Milan are quite a bit better than Porto.

Maybe with Pato, the rest of the team only played for a half. At least Porto were fit for 180 minutes. I agree that Milan were the better team, but not by much, they had so many frailties and were very, very easy to beat

So we have Lillie tonight and well id happyily take a draw and go get the win at anfield due to our crapness i wouldnt be surprised if we lost.

Saying that hopefully we can attempt to turn it around and show some fight and belif. This would be my first 11 for tonight.

Reina
Johnson-Carra-Kyrigos-Insua
Kuyt-Aquaman-Mash-Riera OR Babel
Gerrard - Torres

I watched all 4 games and I am giving an opinion on what I saw on the field, I don't really think medals are relevant when assessing a game of 90 minutes. I saw AC Milan fall apart after 45 minutes in both games. Any prem team would have beaten AC in the second half of those games as they just can't deal with the intensity of English clubs, they played some nice football but ultimately they were much too easy to beat. Man Utd had a much harder time vs Porto last season than AC Milan this season

Lille are a good side, pretty sure that Liverpool will go out unless Torres turns it on

Well god forbid Braga get into the Champions League then, they must be up there with Bayern. And Benfica! Who are 11 points ahead of Porto..well they must be up there with Barca! I know it's common to belittle clubs that United beat, but damn you're being ridiculous.

What on earth are you talking about, are you purposely ignoring the fact that I'm constantly saying Milan were better than Porto?

Am I not allowed to have an opinion on Milan or something?

Hate United fans sense of entitlement :(. Do you want everybody to say Man Utd are amazing? Why don't you try and credit Arsenal instead of calling Porto 'awful' etc? Hm.

btw, I rate Benfica, think they are a great side.

Edit - Instead of causing some kind of disagreement why don't you reply about my AC Milan fitness criticisms. I'm almost certain I said the exact same thing about them when Arsenal beat them 2 years ago, they're far too old, not fit enough and can't cope with Arsenal's (or Man Utd's this year) intensity, especially in midfield.

My views of Milan haven't changed much since Arsenal beat them in the CL a few years ago, I suppose they have lost Kaka and Pato has improved a bit, but largely they're just as bad now as they were then.

Equally A N Other team against AC might have conceded 3 or 4 in the first half of each game to make the 2nd half irrelevant.....

Please quote where I said Porto were awful.

Saying Milan are a little bit better than Porto, is like saying Barca are a little bit better than Atletico Madrid.

As or fitness, no I don't think Milan have fitness problems, they have problems with players like Ronaldinho thinking they're too good to get back and defend.

Portsmouth should have beat AC like last year and were the better side. AC aren't the same club they used to be. They have players like Pirlo and Ronaldinho who are exceptionally talented and could do things with the ball that nearly nobody else on the earth can, I love to watch AC, they're brilliant and play some really attractive football, I'm not saying this out of hate for AC or United, I just think that AC are much too easy to beat, especially against English sides. As Arsenal, Portsmouth and Man Utd have proven with relatively easy games recently, same with Porto who are a disaster on English ground.

English teams are largely too strong for most other sides. Not really because we have excellent footballing teams, but because of the fitness and intensity of the teams and also the ruthless efficiency

Edit - By the way I don't know if you were joking, but Atletico beat Barca a few weeks ago and looked the better side by a decent margin.

That I would agree with wholeheartedly - also despite the 1st leg result, the 1st goal last night shouldnt have visibly deflated them as much as it plainly did (I TOTALLY understand after 2nd goal, having a comeback after that one was like climbing a mountain) , not having a similar mental capacity to Utds in the first leg , and believing after conceding the 1st goal, is what really lost the game for AC last night - they had no fight at all. It wasnt anything about fitness imo

Manchester United were good last night, A.C. Milan were poor. It however doesn't make them a poor side.

Arsenal were good last night, against an awful Porto. It doesn't make Porto a bad side, nor does it make Arsenal European Champions to be.

I do like how any team in the Premier League would beat A.C. Milan :p :D lol

Indeed, I don't think it's fitness. I think it's the attacking players are there just to attack, not defend.

Barca are better then Atheletico.

Manchester United and Chelsea took Arsenal apart a few weeks ago. They looked the better side by a really big margin. :p

That was a bit of a joke but over 2 legs I'm almost certain the competitive teams in the league would beat them
