English & CL Football [6th - 10th Mar 2010] **spoilers**

Valencia didn't have his best game but he certainly didn't play badly, he was better than Nani who was atrocious in the first half especially (he did turn it around second though)

Park was brilliant

Basically you're both wrong :p

Aye, well we'll know for sure in a few months who is the best side in the league and none of us will be able to disagree with that final table :)

I'll disagree with that right now

I'm sorry but if Arsenal win the league this season there is no chance that that automatically means they've been the best team this season, not when both United and Chelsea have beaten them twice so convincingly this season (albeit maybe not so much us in the home leg)

Arsenal have been very favourable in terms of the fixture list, playing Everton away for instance on the first week of the season when they were having all kind of off the pitch problems. If Arsenal played them now like us and Chelsea have had to they'd get a draw at best

Having said all that Arsenal still have to go to Hull (who took points off of Chelsea), Birmingham (who took points off of both us and Chelsea), Wigan (who beat both Chelsea and Liverpool) Spurs & Blackburn (who both us and Chelsea also need to play) not to mention City at home so you could end up being well short come the end of the season for the above not to even matter

Arsenal have been very favourable in terms of the fixture list,

Because playing Villa, Man Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool in the space of a few weeks was so favorable.

Teams play each team twice, so it's a level playing field. Arsenal will have caught teams at good times, and bad times, it's the same for all the clubs.

That is unless of course teams play weakened teams....:p

So you had a tough couple of weeks, on the flip side of that though you get 2/3 months of 'easy' fixtures hence everyone talking up your run in

What a load of rubbish

And when we had a tough few weeks you had `easy` fixtures :p

The title winning team doesnt always beat the other top four. You could make excuses for everything if you were like that.

Oh when we played Wolves they had their best team out...but when you played them they put out their second team. Boo hoo :D

We had more injuries...

The ref was unfair to us...

You got more penalties...

Sad, sad excuses...

Arsenal havent even won it and you are already making excuses

Talk about poor loser :p

Whoever picks up the trophy at the end of the season has been the best team for the season no matter how individual games played out.

Its not a knock out competition, its a league!

Haha, how can the team that wins the league not have been the best over the course of the season.

What a ridiculous statement to make.

This just comes across as bitter. If Arsenal go on to win the league then yes they deserved to win it and were the best team over the course of the season. Liverpool beat us home and away last season yet we still won the league, were we not the best team last season?

Man Utd only managed to win 1 out of the 6 games against the top 4 last year. I take it they where not the best team last season either...

A couple of points;

Winning the league, means you are the best team over the course of the season.

Winning the league has never, imo, being about beating the other top three, it's being about beating all the other sides.

I dislike Sheffield United, a lot to say the least, but if they won the league. They'd be the best team in the league.

Don't be so bitter, be the bigger man and admit whom ever wins the league was the best team over the season, that season.

u didnt see him run the ball off the pitch once?

were you watching ITV 7:45-9:30pm?

right side of the box, trying to beat Jankolovski - won a goal kick for AC milan?

Just watched the game again, you are wrong I'm afraid. Valencia did not run the ball out of play once, I was paying very close attention.

lol, its incredibly unlikely Arsenal will win the title, in which case losing to the top two teams will have been the difference to winning the title.

Had we won all 4 of those games, we've be 12 points better off, and Chelsea and Utd would each be 6 points lower than they are now.

In other words, we'd have a 10-12 point lead and be almost certain to win the title barring some swine flu outbreak that wipes out half the team for a month.

Winning isn't essential not losing is essential. If we'd won, we'd be almost 12 points ahead of both now and clear and massive favourites, if we'd drawn all 4 games, we'd still be 4 points higher, and Utd and Chelsea would be 4 points lower, so we'd again be in a decent lead.

Not losing to your closest rivals is the single most important thing you can do, anywhere in the league.

Wow its so unlike you to miss the point entirely

Actually I hate to burst your bubble but the most important thing is to end the season with more points than the other teams in the league. Obviously winning/drawing those games against the other main challengers helps but losing against them isnt the end of the season.

doh i was sure he had done, maybe i was confusing that with his backheel, im not sure!

but after a second watching you must now agree that he had a pretty poor game attacking wise?

No :p

There was one poor cross (his first) that didn't beat the first man but other than that his crosses either won corners or were pretty good. Then a couple of times he cut inside and played it straight into Rooney (His first shot that went just wide of the right post for example) or one of the CM's.

say wha?!

i dont know man, i dont think he was sharp enough - just seemed to make the wrong decision each time.

my mate text me, Kanchelskis MK2...i replied...Blomqvist 1.5...certainly no where near Ronaldo 1.0

You do know Man Utd didn't win a game vs the top 4 last year, so using your logic they definitely weren't the best team in the league?
