Dazza, with regards to spending money, remind me how much you've spent on the likes of Milner, Downing, Ashley Young, Heskey, Warnock, Delph and Dunne?
Chelsea really haven't purchased many players in the last 2 years. The only ones that come to mind that cost a substantial amount of money are Zhirkov and Malouda.
The difference being that Villa can only afford to send £10m+ on players who will break into the first team (almost) instantly and make an impact.
While Chelsea can fritter away millions on players that will only be fringe players for most of the season.
The players you've mentioned generally don't cost more than £12m or so, and weren't all bought in the same season - Heskey for example only cost Villa £3.5m![]()
But then again, I get increasingly fed up of hearing about how we are only successful because of our influx of cash. Whilst, that might be true, that's not the fans fault. I've supported Chelsea when they were a 'mid table team' as a lot of people like to put it.

Next weekend Gustov will decide the title. I hope Lampard doesn't travel with the squad.![]()
But as you say, it's still true.
My Dad has supported Chelsea since the early 90's but even he admits that they've bought success.
Yep, we most definitely have, but genuine question, what do you expect me to do?
I'm not going to change who I support.
You are in the same position that we were earlier in the season with regards to injuries, just different timing. We had horrific injuries also.
We only had Evra.
Evans has come on leaps and bounds in the last two seasons mind, not saying he's in Vidic/Ferdinand's league but he's a decent replacement for us mind.
