English League & European Football [2nd Apr - 8th Apr 2010] **spoilers**

It's only fair he got punished for holding him back in the first place then.

With a yellow card? He didn't pull him back, he didn't hold him, he grabbed his arm, then let go, its a foul yes, but its not a yellow card. The ref ****ed up with the first one, then Ribery conned him into the second.

Looks like its a Bayern vs Barca final...as long as Barca get past Inter and Bayern get past Lyo...who go through 3-2.

haha you are serious ? bayern aren't even "that good" just face it utd lost to one of the lesser sides left in the tournament.

Utd simply have no cutting edge in europe they have played virtually 5-4-1 most of the time talk about one man team.

United always fall to bits against the big sides in Europe.

And the self proclaimed voice of football hath come forth from under his rock and spoken.

I would rather fall against some of the biggest names in Europe (occasionally) then fail consistently against mediocrity like your shower has all season

Yet it's still a European Cup, if anyone who wins it that weren't in through the Champions League drop should deserve a lot of credit, getting through qualifiers, groups and then having to mix it in with teams that just didn't make it in the Champions League. Have you seen the teams left? They could all be in the Champions League quarters/semi's (ok, probably not Fulham).

Yeah it's a good achievement for someone that didn't drop into it. Clearly not all the teams still in the draw could be in the CL semis because Liverpool didn't get out the group :D

How many of the others?

making a foul which 9/10 gets a yellow card. Very silly to foul a player from behind when he's breaking to your goal. Inevitably a yellow

9/10 that is not a second yellow, no chance. If he had not have been booked then most refs give a yellow sure, but few give a second yellow. I don't mind if all refs start doing this but the inconsistency is what makes me angry.

Our shower didn't fancy it in Europe this year.

I thought the second yellow was a bit harsh but can accept it. Rafael should never have got the first one though. Foolish!

Gutted but at least I won £140 with a tenner on Gibson for the first goal. :D

Well, that was lame.

I haven't seen a match with more retaliatory episodes of stupidity for a long time.

Players still don't realise that being unfortunate with a decision doesn't give them the right to charge off and take out another player.

He let go and let him run, Ribery stopped and threw an arm at him, he knew what he was doing, he had no desire to carry on the run at all.

And Ribery is in the next round, dont give me the crap about being fair because Man United and every other team, have cheated or influenced the ref its part of football, its hard to take when someone does it against your team but a blind eye is seen when your team does it

I honestly didn't think it had any affect at all whether he'd already been given a card, I've seen 2 yellows for 2 nothing challenges before, Rafael was already pushing it for lashing out off the ball which some ref's would call a red, maybe he was lucky to stay on there?

Also, Rafael wouldn't have even been off if it wasn't for the ridiculous thing he did in the first half. That was entirely unneccessary and in the scheme of things it could have cost his team a place in the Semi, all because he kicked Van Bommel because he got a bit angry.

Player running towards goal with ball, gets obstructed from behind is always going to equal a yellow.

So you admit he's cheated and influenced the ref then? A minute ago it was a clear fair decision?

Really? We need to go back and look at every shirt pulling decision ever then, because not many of those were straight yellow cards?

Yes it is and specifically in Europe it's 99 out of 100. Ribery's running away from him and he's pulled his arm, it's a fairly easy decision.

I too am surprised to see the Man Utd fans dismayed at it, seems a very obvious decision to me, the two Man Utd fans I was with knew straight away

The UTD fans need to wake up a bit here they all seem to be on their high horses!

Lets be honest the UTD squad isnt all that you have one exceptional player in Rooney and the rest are lagging behind. You didnt do enough on the night should have got another, you missed chances and Bayern took the ones they needed.

Time to get over it that team isnt strong enough to be in a final imo.
