something i agree on completely, arsene is completely fluffing your chance at a title with tactics like this. he needs to pull his thumb out of his **** and buy a front man, because arshavin is not your main forward, hes the guy who needs the freedom offered to him by a frontman who hussles defenders and occupies the space so that he can roam and cause havoc. shame, bendtner is a promising prospect for this rule but needs time develop, right now arsene has messed up your season once again by refusing to dip into his wallet.
People seem to have misunderstood me, I in no way think we need another striker, Arshavin simply isn't a loan striker, nor is anyone we have. We have a team built for 4-4-2, but Wengers too scared to play it. He thinks playing an extra DM will stop these big losses against the big teams, it hasn't, the more defensive we've got , the more goals we've let in. Because we're less offensive meaning the other teams are less careful and get forward more not to mention one more CRAP defensive midfielder who constantly loses the ball and stops us getting forward, cant' posssibly help us.
Arshavin is a good link up player, surprisingly strong and able to receive the ball with back to goal and turn a defender, he did it a dozen, maybe a couple dozen times last night. Problem is he needed someone ahead of him to pass in behind. Eduardo(injured maybe, not sure to be honest?), Vela, Theo, Bendtner) we aren't short of options, but yesterday we HAD to play someone ahead of Arshavin, and didn't. We've got the players to play there, and we don't, we've got decent wingers but he persists with Theo as a game changer. He persisted with Clichy who is no where near match fit, clear as day, with the fittest player in the squad sitting on the bench in Eboue, laughable. Seriously, at the end we had Gallas as a striker we could have put ANY single player ahead of Arshavin at the expense of Denilson and been a massively better team, its not about needing one world class striker, its about playing a formation that gets the best out of the players on the pitch, Fabregas needs to people making runs at defenses, not to be crowded out of midfield and not to be constantly running back to retreive the ball after Denilson/Song have lost it. Arshavin, Bendtner, RVP, Eduardo, Vela and Theo are not loan strikers, and Theo is most certainly not a winger, and maybe not a footballer. Wilshire on loan? He would have been far more dangerous than Theo yesterday, at 1/3rd of the wages, why are we loaning out players who should be on the pitch improving, and keeping useless crap?
We don't need to buy strikers, we have an abundance, we just refuse to play them.
Arshavin looked 50 times the player last season when we played 4-4-2 and less good when we played 4-5-1 last season. We keep resorting to 4-4-2 at the end of these big games we are losing, surely if even Wenger thinks 4-4-2 is the only way to win/draw in the late stage, he thinks its a better system, but is simply too scared now to start with a 4-4-2.
It still stems back to that defeat of our 49 game run to Utd. Since that exact day 4-5-1 has been an ever increasing presense and we've not been the same side since. He's scared to lose the big games and now plays for drawers, that started very soon after that big loss to Utd, since then the 4-5-1 slowly trickled down from the hard games, to the slightly tough games, to the mediocre games, and now the easy games aswell.
He's lost his balls and I've been saying it for 4 years now. The insanity that is constantly buying central players and forcing them to try to play out wide is starting to really do my head in aswell. We don't have a single natural winger at the club. Nasri was actually a winger by trade at his last club, but lack of pace shows up in this league, and he's put in his very best performances as a withdrawn striker late last year, even as a DM he was brilliant.
Arsenal desparately need CB cover, a keeper, and a winger, or 3. We don't even slightly need a striker, and Rosicky, Nasri, Arshavin, Ramsey, Wilshire, Fabregas can all play in the middle and all give the ball away less, win the ball more and track damn runs into the box better than Denilson.
Who by the way I'll point out most gooners loved all last year, when he played EXACTLY the same and was our weak point in terms of conceding goals. Seeing as Song's basically taken over for much of this year, and we've looked an identical team with identical problems conceding identical goals, thats why I can't believe anyone rates him. Remember, a huge portion of this board though Denilson was fantastic last year, in exactly the same role.
The key issue is, Wenger will not be wrong about a player, he simply won't let it happen. The biggest failing of Wenger is not recognising a player isn't good enough and cutting them. Fergie has his moments, but how long did Kleberson, Djemba Djemba, Veron and a bunch of others last. Hugely more expensive, bigger "failures" than Denilson, Diaby, the Hoyte brothers, Pennant and just dozens of others, but we still have our failures, sucking the money/wages out of the club and offering nothing in return.
We need a new manager, whose not scared to lose(no champion of any sport has ever been afraid to lose, you can't play your best if your too scared you might lose), who has a winning mentality and one who can be clinical and cut the dead weight.
