English League Football ** spoilers ** [6th - 10th November 2010]

Was a pretty dire game (still can't understand why just the one was televised!). Have to wait till MOTD to see Arsenal's goals.

Good to win even though it sounds like we were pretty inefficient in front of goal. Taking chances still continues to be our problem across every game.

As R5Live pointed out, we need a Kevin Phillips in his prime, someone who will just knock them in all the time when they get the chances.

Or a RvN, he's the one that really annoys me. Berkamp pointed him out before United were rumoured with him but we didn't get the signing in the end. Frightening to think what kind of partnership him and Henry could have put together.

I think Jeffers was that type of player but didn't make it. Seemingly so was Eduardo as well (very good in the box), but well,..

Just a quick post...
I think we played alright but could have done with some more attacking. Milner needs to go where Barry is and Johnson needs to start.
Anyway a point is a point.

Just got back from t'pub, **** me I want that 2 hours of my life back please. City, a "big club" playing 3 DMFs and one up front at home, really? REALLY?!

We scored 2 of 8 shots on target, and several of the shots were tame at best.

Thats life, most teams will have a retarded game where they scored 4 goals in 4 shots(Liverpool + Arshavin), MOST teams will you know maybe score 2 goals in 10 shots, thats not bad, thats life, not all shots must be scored.

Remember in our invincibles year though we were making 20-30 chances a game, that was the difference, against Newcastle, I forget the stats but we had like 2 or 3 shots on target.

Finishing isn't the problem, its the type of chance and the general crapness of our football.

Not to offend Wolves supporters but, honestly we shouldn't be hanging on for 30-40minutes even away from home to a bottom 3 side.

It mostly stems from Wenger though, Fabregas could not be more clearly not fit, and though its Fabregas and I think it was him that played Chamakh through in the final minute, he still looked off the pace and he should be allowed to get to full fitness.

I really do like Arshavin and Rosicky, but they've never been wingers, both pretty small, neither with you know Nani/Valencia/Ronaldo/Reyes/Freddie type pace.

Then the biggest problem of all, lack of playing 4-4-2, we don't have a single striker who wouldn't play MILES better in a 4-4-2. Chamakh may be big, but he's not Davies or Crouch...... he's a footballer who actually looks FAR better with the ball at his feet.

Vela has shown superb finishing, but hasn't been given a run in the RVN role, whats the point of buying an RVN type, to play in a 4-5-1 where he won't start games? Theo's entire game is getting in behind for tap in's and simple finishes, similar to RVN but not quite.

RVP, Chamakh, Bendtner, Vela, Theo, JET(who really is VERY good), and Nasri, Arshavin, Rosicky who all do their best work close or inside the box really in terms of finishing.

What we don't need, in any way, is a fox in the box, we've got a million players to fill that role IF we played 4-4-2, what we don't have, for a 4-5-1, 4-3-3, 4-4-2, 7-1-2, 0-0-10 is a single natural winger at the club................

The coms on my ..ahem..viewing method just highlighted something.
Carra and Stevie told Torres to go with the rest of the team to applaud the away support, he basically told them to <swear> off, refused to speak to or shake Roys hand and stormed down the tunnel.
Reina did something similar.

Cant blame them.

hmm so maybe there might be some truth in the article I posted earlier this week about Reina only saying he would only stay til at least the end of the season, despite being mocked for posting the article.

our awful awful run of games is over at last! Chelsea, Man U in the cup, Man city, Man U again and Arsenal tonight. and were not bottom! result :D
And we got it all again in Jan and Feb when one after the other we play Chelsea, Man City, Liverpool, a break at Bolton then Man U and then Arsenal

Posts like this are exactly why people question whether you truly support Arsenal.

Posts like that make me question your IQ.

I'm the only person to ever suggest a manager is lucky for surviving intense pressure, refusing to make a change and getting a very very late lucky goal, really? I find that hard to believe.

Of course if you had some reading comprehension you may have realised I didn't say we should take Wenger out and flog him, I was suggesting, in 30 minutes of pressure when Wolves really could and should have scored more than 1 goal, Wolves should have punished Wengers inability to make a change to get the game under control.

I believe lots of people say the same thing about their manager when their team is playing like turd, is being outplayed by a team I dunno, 14 spots below them maybe(i'm guessing off the top of my head) and refuses to make a change.

Its also truly shocking an Arsenal supporter see's use being pressured, see's 4 quality players on the bench, see's Wenger making no changes, see's a VERY high chance of us conceding a goal, see's at least one very tired and not match fit player on the pitch. Its really shocking to you that I wanted Wenger to make a change, get the game under control, and go on and get a second and seal the game as quickly as possible......... thats strange for an Arsenal supporter to want to make a change and win the game, rather than sit there and give Wolves chance after chance after chance?

To be fair that is terrible editing on MOTD.

There was a much worse tackle by Henry on Arshavin which went totally unpunished and a fairly bad one on Song by Milijas - both not shown.

Interesting on MOTD, Fabianski made some good saves, another game in the bank. We should have killed the game off earlier before allowing Wolves all those chances. Some of those were down to pretty poor defending.

In an ideal world I'd prefer Arshavin and Rosicky on either wing but I get the impression the latter doesn't like going wide enough.

Chamakh needs to take the ****ing scarf off. Cesc could possibly have been sent off, but then there were worse ones by Wolves players which funnily enough weren't mentioned. Edit - but it's was by an Arsenal player, so once again we'll have to let people have that nibble they so crave. ;) Heck even McCarthy picked up on the fact there was an apology - few have done so to us over the years I'd have not bothered if I was Cesc.

Barton should be banned again. I can't believe as it stands he gets the same punishment as Cesc's tackle. Think it's time he's dealt with extremely harshly (more so than before).

Yeah but they are a bit different to punching some one in the chest isn't it.

Well it's not like the manager of your team automatically gets papal infallibility - God knows Fergie ****s up every once in a while and I'd like the right to call it the few times it happens.

To be honest I'd thought you'd take issue with the S&M undertones of what you quoted instead. :p

I was talking about Cesc's challenge being focused on and a worse challenge by Henry being ignored.

I didn't mention Barton's punch? But as we're on the subject, there's no place in the game for antics like that.
