Equal rights, equal... hitting?

I personally couldn't hit a women so I think it was unacceptable for him to blatantly come out and say that to you Gemma :(.

I would perhaps restrain a women but hitting a women crosses the line in my eyes anyway.

I don't hit anyone without good reason and If I did hit someone gender would have nothing to do with it. I have no problem hitting a women if the situation calls for it, the same way I'd have no problem hitting a man in the same situation. That being said I never get into fights anyway and much prefer backing off before anything like that happens. I never liked the fact that some women think that a man hitting a women in any circumstance is wrong.

eh, you really think woman are that inferior to the extent that they are all so weak that they are all easily restrain-able by any man lol, and any man that is not able to restrain a woman is not classed as a man, you do realize that it usually takes at least two professionally trained police officers to restrain and arrest a woman that is D&D and having a benny don't ya ?, theres some pretty tough woman out there mate and ones that would love to get in the ring and take you down a peg or two to help teach you that your living in the dark ages my freind.
 
If a girl is coming at me for a fight with arms swinging, she's going to get exactly back what she dishes out.

Good post, it's amazing the amount of blatant sexism in this thread, " I wouldn't hit a girl, girls are weak" "I wouldn't hit a girl, girls can't defend themselves" "I wouldn't hit a girl because they're a girl".

I was under the impression we had developed past these outdated and backward ideas, but obviously not.

If I told some of my female friends they couldn't do something they wanted to because "females are the weaker sex and can't cope because they are delicate and soft" then I'd probably get a well deserved clout around the ear.
 
I dont think you can ever take the option off the table, it all depends on the circumstances. Would need to be extreme circumstances though. Like not having my tea on the table after i got home from work.

The only way I would hit a woman is if she was directly attacking me or a loved one in a way I deemed excessive... I mean all out punching kicking etc. Then of course you have a right to defend you or yours, no matter what the sex is, anyone who says otherwise is imo a bit of a nugget. Would you really stand there letting a woman punch/kick/bottle you etc and think to yourself "no I can't retaliate, she's a woman". Jeez.

However to strike a woman first in anger, for revenge, or anything like that is just cowardly and wrong, as is punching ANYONE weaker than you without severe phyical provocation, again no matter what the sex.

Some of you saying "i'd never hit a woman no matter what" have obviously never been attacked by one... it isn't pleasant and is scary as being attacked by a man... don't forget some women really know how to fight... they do it every week when they go out getting dunk just like men do. And yes, I hit her before she did me serious damage and no-one I was with at the time begrudged me it.

The reason it takes two officers is because they don't want to injure the woman. If they wanted to injure her, one would be more than enough. This comparison is irrelevant.

I'd punch a woman in the same circumstances I'd punch a man. Which is only if I really, really have to. People can argue that you shouldn't hit a woman because women are weaker. True, the average woman is weaker than the average man. But I'm not an average man (well, perhaps I shouldn't call myself a man and just call myself a male). I'm incredibly weak, and I'd say it's actually quite possible that if I somehow came up against a woman in a fight she'd actually be stronger than me.
 
This is what I wrote on a another forum about the same subject:

If a girl slapped me once I would tell them not to do it again, if the repeatedly tried to do it I would restrain them and/or shake them. If I couldn't restrain them or they actually really hurt me they would be getting a fist in their face.

I don't particularly like fighting but I won't just stand around and let someone do something to me and I WILL defend myself even if it is a woman hitting me. The above is also pertinent for being attacked by a man too, there is no reason women should get special treatment, and hitting a weaker man is no different to hitting a weaker woman.

I agree Ray, I don't do violence anyway, and would rather run away than hit someone, but if I throw a punch at a bloke then I fully expect him to respond. As they say, don't start the fight if you can't finish it. Why the hell should a bloke just stand there and take a beating from me because I'm a girl? If you dish it out you have to take it back.

If I hit someone's girlfriend, then I'd hope they would restrain me rather than hit me, but if they hit me, I'd just have to suck it up and realise it was my own fault for starting in the first place. There are no rules in this kind of situation, it's all relative.
 
I'd use reasonable force to stop anyone attacking my family. If they're female, why should they be treated any differently? I can't just stand by and watch my girlfriend being attacked. How chivalrous is that?

In the vast majority of cases, a man is going to be stronger than a woman. It's a genetic fact and you only have to look at the most extreme examples of each gender to see that.

It's more than just size - there are other physical factors. Typical muscle structure and the prescence of 15 times as much testosterone, a natural anabolic sterioid, to name two.

Its nothing to do with opinion, ask any biologist they will tell you, its just how it goes.

Anyways, I don't wanna hit someone made out of a rib and some dirt...
I mean we'll play fight you know, women all love that, but not like "You silly cow!" *smack* kinda stuff thats a de *******able offence in my books.

I know women with more physical strength and better self defence techniques than I have, are they weaker than me?
