Escape from Tarkov

Fair enough, looks great to me ....

I'm sure they'll add in proper AA at some stage anyway.

They had it previously and it was still rubbish and didn't really do much in terms of properly cleaning up the jaggies... then they disabled it altogether due to an update to the unity engine which caused AA to no longer work. Until the Unity devs fix the bug there'll be no AA in the game... and from what Takov devs have said that won't be anytime soon.

If you're happy with how it looks then all good, I think it looks extremely ropey and unpolished in terms of visuals, the overcast lighting is hilariously bad.

I think those screenshots are a perfect example of what im talking about, minimal difference.... still tons of jaggies visible (especially when the game is in motion, still screenshots do not even begin to display just how bad the jaggies are in this game).

Look at those telephone lines or whatever they are in the distance, the aliasing is so bad that it doesn't even look like an entire wire, it looks like it has holes all the way through it lol.

It's why I can't play the game, the aliasing just looks so so bad in motion. The game also really struggles with image clarity at long distances.
No amount of anti-aliasing is going to cure the way those wires work, because that's not what anti-aliasing is for. Those wires look awful because of the resolution scale and draw distance of the assets in the game.

Compare the outlines of the buildings / closer static objects on those two screenshots and it's very evident that ReShade works well as an anti-aliasing solution.

Then why does Anti Aliasing work on telephone wires in countless other games ? Not saying you’re wrong, just interested.

Regardless, they are one example of many... the game is still a jaggy mess with reshades AA applied, it’s miles off being an effective solution for someone who hates jaggies. It may improve it slightly but it’s still ugly as sin... even at 4K you can still notice lots of flickering etc from Aliasing.

Black Friday deal is live, considering picking this up, looks good.

We will be providing a 25% discount on everything for 3 days - 23, 24, 25 November 2017.
GREAT NEWS! the 25% Black Friday discount will stack with the multiple copy discounts!!

Discounts begin: November 23 at 19:00 MSK
Discounts End: 25 November at 23:59 MSK

Interesting on the Reshade (I've never tried this sort of thing) so it gives you AA without the normal performance hit that AA would make?

Pretty much, the impact is 2-4% so barely noticeable. ReShade is so easy to install now you might as well give it a go.

If you didn't pull the trigger the open beta is supposed to start in Dec.

Been playing for a couple of weeks and it's an incredible game, so immersive. It's very difficult but that's what's appealing to me, trying to extract from the map with a bag full of loot is one of the most heart poundingly intense experiences I've had gaming.

I'm a massive S.T.A.L.K.E.R. nut and this is the only game that's come close to it. I can finally stop playing every stalker mod on the planet!

It's very exciting to see what the finished product will be, it's the first early access game I'm glad I've supported (looking at you pubg .. grrr)

Taken from the main game page...

Today, we kick off the load testing of the Escape from Tarkov game servers before the official start of the Open Beta testing at the beginning of 2018.

Moreover, we announce the start of the New Year holiday event, which will allow the game to be purchased with a 25% discount during the week, and some of the subscribers of the game website will receive a free 7-day access to the game (eligible for activation during the event, until January 4). A full description of the event, participation requirements and instructions for redeeming the gift can be found on the project website in the news section.

At this point, users purchasing any game package get access to the Beta testing and can start playing immediately after purchase.

Please be advised that during the event and load testing the game servers may underperform in certain ways, e.g. matching wait time can be longer than usual, and other issues may occur as well. Thank you for understanding.

Sod it, that 25% discount has won me over.

Or not, payment and handling fees.. lol they can sod off.

I've been dropping in and out of this game every couple of month, I'm just happy they are still working on it releasing some decent updates and content. it was a total gamble buying into this one from another (alpha) Russian! dev team. You really do fear for your survival, not many games give you that feeling, and the weapon customisation is going to be second to none by the time it's officially released. shotguns actually feel lethal which most games fail to pull off.

If you buy the base package now can you play the beta now?

Yes you can. I purchased the base package yesterday and you receive an email a few minutes after you confirm your details.

I've played several hours now and this game is brutal but a lot of fun - watch videos get a feel of the maps etc. Remember if you lose gear in an online raid it is lost for good until the next patch while in beta (unless a friend takes it off your body and brings it out for you) .You can play as a scav ( best way to grind gear but 30 min cool down after each scav raid).

It has a few flaws, it is a beta after all but from the few hours I have in the game well worth it.

If a friend does bring gear out for you, how do you get it back to your stash, customisation to each gun is amazing if you have the parts, like 40/50 parts to each gun can be added in some instances.

If a friend brings your kit back out then they just need to give it back to you in the next raid you're in with them. Alternatively, if you insure your gear, get them to chuck it somewhere it wont be found and you'll get it back in around 24 hours :)

Just upgraded to the Edge of Darkness version myself, first time I've spent over £100 on a game

Incredible game though, even in it's limited form it's the best fps I've played. The final release is going to be amazing.
