I just flashed my SGS to Android 2.2.1 (JPX) and the stock email client is much faster and with no annoying lags etc, but features remain the same. On Froyo before it was laggy as hell so I used k9.

That's because TouchWiz UI email client isn't as good as SenseUI's.

Had a last minute request on Friday from a customer, had work Christmas party that night and it was getting late. So was so busy trying to get the work done and getting home that I forgot to set my out of office as I'm on holiday this week.

Just remembered, and set it via my Sense email client.

I don't see the relevance, but OK. Just letting SGS owners the newer firmware works a lot better for email. In fact, the client works perfectly, but I'm having battery drain issues on JPX at the moment so I can't fully recommend it yet.

Anyone having problems with the generic sms app crashing and losing all the texts?

Mine seems to do this once a week. The app throws up an error and won't load. After a reboot all the texts have gone.

Luckily I can restore the texts but it's getting annoying now.

I think I had that once before on my old Galaxy Portal, no idea what caused it.

I've installed the new facebook, but I cant tell if it leaves me logged into chat in the background or not, as people keep saying im always online but i never use the app.
I'd prefer not to be, is there a way to change that without loggin out all my details?

..... no worries, found the go offline menu.
Thats one things thats very difficult with android, there always seems to be a hold, key press, or menu button that goes into another menu, bit like a maze sometimes.

You hate the fact that the menu button brings up a menu? And that one button is a maze?

I guess you prefer the iphone approach? One hardware button which means that half the screen has to be taken up by menus all the time?

Dunno if this has been posted yet, but Swype have a micro (5MB) version available that just includes English and Spanish language. Much smaller than the 10MB original version. You just need to uninstall swype, open the installer and select the smaller version.

Having used dolphin mini a few days now it's great but some things that have annoyed me. In the grand scheme if things are :

No online sync with stock bookmarks.
No way to sort bookmarks.
No way to select text on pages, I did try long pressing blank areas but no dice.

Those are the only issues I have noted and it is beta too so I will revisit it on the next version!

Android IRC here, fairly standard fair as to its multi server and multi channel abilities!

Trying Yaaic.

Edit*

Interface is more friendly than Android IRC. Replaced!

Hey, sorry if this has been asked before but how do you guys buy your apps?

Whenever I buy something in anything other than £ I get charged a £1.50 service charge from halifax. Makes a 60p app suddenly not so cheap!

It's so hard to narrow down my favourite apps! Coming from Windows Mobile 6.5, where the apps are franky...... pap and few and far between... now it's like i've almost got too much choice lol

Latest app i've been hunting down, is a decent London Underground one. I think i'm going to settle with this puppy :D
