Room Temperature Thrusters.

Sorted.

It’s actually cold as the pressurised air expands to ambient pressure so takes in the thermal energy around. It’s far from room temperature hence the “smoke” is the air expanding freezing water vapour in the atmosphere…

So anyone like the new Ioniq 3?

I'm torn on it, it's starting price seems good for the entry level offering, but it has loads of competition now, and coming soon. I do wonder if it can't do the magic 6mpkWh it claims.

On the other hand I've used a fair few non Tesla public chargers and never had an issue.

In fact I think the only time I did have an issue was trying to use contactless at a Tesla one, it just refused to do anything.

To quote you in a previous reply to me…

Don’t try to lecture me how cars work, thanks

The gas inside is stored at room temperature, and it’s a thruster.

Ergo, room temperature thruster. :D

Jesus. Public charging really is a complete ********. My second attempt at using generic public chargers is a bust. All six at Sedgemoor services out of order.
That’s 0 for 2 now.
I totally understand why people only buy Teslas.

That looks like a pretty poor services, just the legacy electric highway chargers being the only provision. There are some decent chargers a few mins off the M5 at the next junction but that doesn't help if you just want to pull in for a quick pit stop.

Osprey just dropped rates for evening and weekends to their saver rates - still eye watering but their locations are generally good in car parks.

Overnight Saver, 69p/kWh. Every night, 8pm to 7am. Weekend Saver, 79p/kWh. Saturday and Sunday, 7am to 8pm.

Not massive drop but right direction and Osprey Go for their Plug & Charge system.

Oh lawd he's trynna be funny again.

@Nasher pls help jonny be funny.

Nah - man spitting facts here. Clique are trying to be funny, “trying” being the operate word.

I hadn't planned to charge there but figured that I would while I was getting a coffee. Charged 10 miles before my destination at the new Barnstaple services. New Tesla 250kW chargers there.

Isn’t that an EV On the Move place? They use Tesla charging equipment and they show in the Tesla app/Nav and work exactly the same as Tesla charger for a Tesla owner.

The main difference is the normal price is 75p/kwh vs about 45p on a Tesla first party sites. Just watch out for that if you are bothered by the price difference.

Yes, those are the ones. Doesn't bother me as it's only once in a blue moon.

Took the wife's 21 Model 3 lr awd out today, had about 5 hours in the car, topped it up to 90% from the usual 75% daily limit. Did 194 miles of very mixed driving. Got back with 14% left
I was not confident thay that it would do the trip on the 75% usual charge, but I reckon I could have managed it with a bit more careful driving. I was not exactly hanging about.
Its really become a top notch daily driver and we are using it more than my 330e now.

Will a Tesla automatically route to these if I tell it I need to charge? That's a bit of a gotcha if so.

Yes, and they cannot be excluded as Tesla class them as Tesla chargers. At least, I haven't seen a way to do it.
EV OTM chargers tend to be in places where Tesla owned chargers are not also so the chances of being randomly routed to one are slim.
True. For where I am right now (Ilfracombe), there are zero Tesla operated chargers between Bristol and Exeter so I either need to charge up to 80%+ in Bristol, or divert an extra hour down to Exeter. Neither is ideal so I don't object to spending 40% more to be able to charge near where I'm going.
