That sounds a great way to run a democracy when you consider the majority of those who voted, actually voted for a conservative government.
Not a majority, mind.

The Queen doing anything beyond the purely ceremonial wouldn't be tolerated, and rightly so. However, I suspect Mr Rroff was just being glib

LOL at Queen's speech delay reason...

"One of the reasons for the delay is also believed to be because the speech has to be written on goat's skin parchment paper, which takes a few days to dry - and the Tory negotiations with the DUP mean it cannot be ready in time."

What?!! Give me strength!

There is nothing actually going against democratic principles if it is an identifiable time of crisis - usually that would be more readily apparent like impending war but still I don't think anyone could see politically we aren't in a time of crisis - people still have the option of confirming yes they really want the **** option :p

I'm on the fence actually it was kind of meant glibly in that I realise the Queen's role is mostly cosmetic these days but in some ways also somewhat meant seriously.

WTF?

This country is retarded some times.

Actually a majority of people didn't vote for a Conservative government.

Ok i should have worded that better. Whilst the Tories might not have enough seats to form a majority government.

They do have the highest number of votes/vote share. My point was with Rroffs suggestion of the Queen asking the British public whether they want a Tory government seems rather undemocratic considering the number of votes/vote share.

It just goes to show that a FPtP electoral system does't always work well.

Aged 64 and 25 years since my first PC build, I probably know a lot more about computing generally, the internet and how most stuff works than a large percentage of 16 - 35 year olds who probably are the representative age of the ageist moaners on here.

Not all of my generation went to university, I did not. That does not make me stupid. On the contrary I am a senior engineer, now on a decent income.

I have huge respect for young people as I remember what it was like to be young and struggle. However it is not their unique experience as not every or even most of the older generation had plain sailing through life as appears to be the assumption sometimes.

While I originally meant it somewhat glibly as above it was kind of serious as well - politically it is somewhat a time of crisis - how many would have voted Tory for instance if they had known it meant getting in bed with DUP? (obviously there have been coalitions, etc. in the past so on its own that isn't a straight forward point).

It's funny how the age thing has only come into question when it hasnt gone the way of the oldies

Who are the ********** now who throw a tantrum when they dont get their own way.
Faisal Islam on Skynews:
''According to @LordAshcroft poll 35-44s voted LAB 50%-CON 30%. That’s not kids, thats mortgages, car-owning, kids at school, mid-career.''

The Conservatives are ******!

If anything this election coupled with the EU referendum just goes to prove that literally everyone in the Country is a whiney little turd. Not me, I only throw my toys out of the pram when I go to make a sandwich but we have no butter, add 10 tantrum points if the Mrs has put the empty butter tub back in the fridge just to lull me into a false sense of security.

Well 72% voted this election.
Perhaps they didn't bother before because it seemed a waste of time, ie tory or tory lite.
Now they have a true labour and socialist option they have come out in droves and I for one am very proud of them :-)

I think this could be pretty close to the truth. Why bother when you just get one of two very slightly different versions of the same thing?
