I thought May appoiting Gove was abit random so I hope this is not true. Though I'll take it with a pinch of Salt I have no doubt that the Tories are in bed with Murdoch

Well she's hardly going to admit it! Considering the way she fired him last year with 'go and learn some humility on the backbenches' it does seem a bit bizarre to rehire him.
A climate change denier as Environment Secretary, you couldn't make it up really.

When it comes to environment Gove is an utter douchebag

May 2016

Voted not to reduce the permitted carbon dioxide emission rate of new homes as part of the Housing and Planning Bill.

October 2015
Voted against charging the first year rate of vehicle tax against a variable rate of vehicle tax based on carbon dixoide emissions for vehicles registered on or after 1 April 2017 and to charge additional tax on vehicles costing over £40,000

July & September 2015
Voted to apply the tax on non-domestic electricity supplies, known as the Climate Change Levy, to electricity generated from renewable sources.

December 2015
Voted against allowing carbon dioxide emissions limits to be set in respect of existing stations which fit pollution abatement equipment.

January 2015
Voted not to ban the exploitation of unconventional petroleum for at least 18 months and not to require a review of the impact of such exploitation on climate change, the environment, the economy, and health and safety be carried out and published.

January 2015
Voted against explicitly requiring an environmental permit for hydraulic fracturing activities.

June 2013
Voted against allowing financial incentives for small-scale low-carbon generation of electricity to be paid to plants which were previously too big to be eligible.

June 2013
Voted against requiring the setting of a target range for the amount of carbon dioxide (or other greenhouse gases) produced per unit of electricity generated.

October 2012
Voted against requiring the UK Green Investment Bank to explicitly act in support of the target of reducing UK carbon emissions to 20 per cent of 1990 levels by 2050

I can well imagine good reasons for voting against many of those measures even if one were a dyed in the wool tofu knitting greenie. The low carbon financial incentives for big generators sticks out like a sore thumb. I can imagine the CEO of Drax rubbing her hands as she vacuums up billions of incentives for burning American trees.

As much as I think he's a bit of an oik, I can see why Gove would vote the way he has.

Ironically, the car tax changes have hit low emission cars the hardest. My 2017 Subaru is hardly green but is now much cheaper to tax. It also risks less car sales affecting the economy.

God forbid the economy suffer. Besides, we'll need cars in the post apocalyptic mad max style desert wasteland

I'd vote against most of those. Can't comment on his record elsewhere but not voting for those is not a douchebag position at all imo.

Faisal Islam on Skynews:
''According to @LordAshcroft poll 35-44s voted LAB 50%-CON 30%. That’s not kids, thats mortgages, car-owning, kids at school, mid-career.''

The Conservatives are ******!

I just about scrape into that catagory and have voted Consevative more often than not over my life. Not this time, but not Labour either.

I don't doubt that climates change, it's the effect accredited to mankind. The earth survived 4 billion years of abuse, asteroids, thePermian–Triassic period. The earth will recover with or without us on it.

Your saying Humans don't have any impact on climate change?

The scientific opinion on climate change is the overall judgment among scientists regarding the extent to which global warming is occurring, its causes, and its probable consequences. The scientific consensus is that the Earth's climate system is unequivocally warming, and that it is extremely likely (meaning 95% probability or higher) that this warming is predominantly caused by humans

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_opinion_on_climate_change

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Climate_change#Human_influences

In the context of climate variation, anthropogenic factors are human activities which affect the climate. The scientific consensus on climate change is "that climate is changing and that these changes are in large part caused by human activities,"[66] and it "is largely irreversible."[67]

The climate change is due to a pole shift, wake up people!!!!

Solar variations do affect climate, but they are not the only factor. As there has been no positive trend in any solar index since the 1960s (and a negative trend more recently), solar forcing cannot be responsible for the recent temperature trends. The difference between the solar minimum and solar maximum over the 11-year solar cycle is 10 times smaller than the effect of greenhouse gases over the same interval.
