but surely the bbc already have this equipment in place? as they broadcast wimbeldon in HD
must be a rights issue or cost too much for the privilege

It's equipment at the circuit rather than the BBC. The footage is largely out of their control as each circuit has its own director and equipment and then that feed is passed out to the BBC etc. I suspect some circuits aren't passing out a HD feed so the BBC may feel it's not worth promising HD F1 until all circuits are up to par.

I'm only speculating though, but this how I understood how it works.

I thought the filming and distribution to television partners was all done by FOM?

ITV - F1 are reporting that Ferrari are willing to supply any "Honda" team with engines

It would be great to see the team survive - but with Ferrari power -yuccckkkk , like dancing with the devil (shivers with dread just thinking about it)

It has been mentioned before (just after Honda pulled out) and sounds quite plausible. With Ross Brawn's connection there and them not supplying Force India next season, it won't be much change for them really. I'm not sure if they will be supplying KERS though - Honda have been working on theirs for almost the longest out of all the teams - on another thought Ferrari are struggling with theirs so maybe they could do a straight swap :p

opppsss sorry hadnt realised it had already been mentioned

Very plausable - but I just dont like the potential for contract small print in any top line engine deal, especially if the chassis is as good as has been rumoured

The fact is the "Honda" team this year wont be Honda owned. So Ferrari supplying an engine is no different to them supplying any other non manufacturer team, which is highly possible an normal, and I dont see why people are getting worked up about it? There hardly going to be running Honda engines are they.

Theres also the "prove your on target by september, or loose the british GP" statement from Bernie.

Personally, cant see them pulling their finger out in time to get it sorted, so there will be no british GP in 2010.

Any engine that keeps a extra team in F1 is good.

Rumoured decent honda chassis? Have they run it yet? It wouldn't be the first time they have rumoured a good chassis to find they have gotten the figures all wrong.

They will spread all kinds of bull on how good a car they have designed for this year in the hope they can get a team together for 09.

1 race into the season they will start talking about building for 2010.

Honda buyout speculation is getting annoying. They're now saying Nick Fry is lookign to go it alone with a bit of Honda help. I really want the team to thrive and Button to get a decent drive but it's looking unlikely.

Honda decision still ongoing, and STR driver lineup decisions still not decided. Surely I cant be the only one to suggest that they are linked. If Honda go bust thats 2 experienced drivers lookig for a seat. If I was STR, id be holding off signing anybody for the moment.
