F1 2009 Season discussion/development thread

Already heard that BE is planning on investing in Honda, anything that keeps another team on the grid has to be a good thing no matter who owns/invests in it.

I wouldn't describe it as being defensive (though I suppose I am slightly biased) - Bob is merely trying to respond to all the negativity that has surrounded our car due to its "unimpressive" lap times in Portugal and the first few days in Jerez. The media jumped onto it and slated us. Yet the first day that we actually start working on proper set-up development and aren't blighted by small technical teething issues we are doing decent stints with FA putting in better lap times than anyone else at the test.

The fact that Hamilton had to go out in the last 7 mins of the session on friday for a 2 lap stint on fresh tyres just to clock a time 0.2s faster than us tells me McLaren are annoyed.

Memphis why did you raise to that - he only asked if he was getting a drive. It's a fair question :/
Hxc's post deserves a raise if anything.

Yantorsen - Rumour has it that Honda have been saved, and Button and Senna will be driving. It's not official yet though.

I think that was more down to Hamilton, than McLaren.

Hamilton is a racer at heart and wants to be at the top of all time-sheets, all the time, no matter what. The racers of old used to do this - Senna, Mansell, etc - and Hamilton is merely returning the old values of racing, which changed when MS took over as the daddy of F1.

IMO all drivers should do what Hamilton did, as it gives a true idea of what the car will be capable of qualifying (when pushed to the limit) and it also entertains the audiences.

Don't think anyone replied to this...

Am I right in thinking that a team must formally enter the championship 40 days before the start of the first race weekend?

So, "honda" have 1 day 14 hours and 45 minutes to declare publicly that they have entered?
IIRC Honda had already paid for entrance up to and including the 2010 season, therefore any team that buys Honda is already entered until then.

You'd have thought it'd make the team a bit more attractive to potential buyers - just shows what an absolute mess they're in now.
