F1 2012 - Teams and Drivers - Who goes where?!

Didn't see that one coming, seemed to be all quiet and thought they'd keep the same two again.

Good on them though, neither were that great.

Fits with what I was saying a little while back. Algesuari and Buemi had become 'stale' in that team. Not going forward, not going backwards, and with lots of Red Bull backed drivers lined up it made no sense them not utilising their own B Team as a training ground.

I hope Ricciardo does a Senna, and shows that the limiting factor was the HRT and not his ability. He seems like a decent chap.

No idea what Vergne is like, don't even think I know what he looks like. He was quick in the tests though so should be good.

One last bit from me on this subject and then I'll shut up:

then someone ran off to the wiki and brough up mastercard lola etc.

I went nowhere near Wikipedia, or F1 Rejects for that matter, when I wrote that post. I merely named several teams who I'd rate as a joke before HRT, Marussia and TL/Caterham. You then went off on one. Following me calling you out on that, you backtracked and made a half-hearted apology, one which you now seem to be going back on.

OH WELL.

For the record, by the end of their time in F1 TWR Arrows were a joke. And not even a funny one. They couldn't hang onto a designer for more than a season, chopped and changed engine contracts, chopped and changed drivers. They had zero stability, not much more than zero credibility, and when both cars failed to make it off the start line for the formation lap in Australia in 2002 it pretty much confirmed what any halfway intelligent observer knew long before - they were doomed.

But doubtless you know all that, since you're such a well informed viewer of F1 who knows so much about the sport and actually knows more than everyone else here....:p

Back on topic:

Didn't see TR changing both drivers. Going to be interesting to see how those two get on. Been impressed with Ricciardo so far, and Vergne seems to have a decent turn of speed. Which seats are left now then? One seat at Williams, one at HRT?

1 at HRT, 1 at Caterham, 1 at Williams and I don't think either Force India have been confirmed yet, although its just a case of which 2 of the 3 drivers they choose.

Didn't see that one coming from Toro Rosso! The two drivers were stale Skeeter, you're very correct in saying that.

Can we cut the arguing though please guys, start another thread if you want to discuss that sort of stuff. No need to get het up with each other!

Suprise for Torro Rosso, look forward to seeing what JEV can do, he is a good driver from what I have seen the last couple of years

Buemi needed to go, given what 2.5 seasons now and hasn't really made the difference. Algesuari had the odd good point (mixing it up and driving different/harder strategies) but as Brundle has ponted out was probably thrown in the deep end too soon, which is a shame but hopefully has done just enough to sort something out (reserve and in another category if nothing else)

Least Ricciardo gets a bash in car that he should have a resonable go in (no idea about the other guy though)

Quite pleased with the new Torro Rosso drivers, could be fun.

But it does seem odd that PDR is in HRT at 40, yet Alguersuari isn't at 21.

Forgot just how young Alguersuari is!

Maybe the 2 will end up being team mates, would make it the Spanish national side :p

Pretty chuffed with the TR decision though means young drivers have a crack with a semi decent car instead of one which is destined for the back rows.

Massa out, Webber to retire along with Schu. Sergio Perez into Ferrari, not sure about Red Bull, would be awesome to see Kobayashi though. Perhaps Ricciardo or Vergne if they do as well as Vettel did. Di Resta into Mercedes would be the obvious option if he continues to improve and Force India give him a good car.

I would be surprised if some of those drives are confirmed during the year (ie making "Winter '12" a lot less interesting than implied lol)
