if its not button its suicide imo.

He is still a top driver, ok not as versatile ? as some others, yet hes cool, calm, collected, fast and handy. Great experience he also has a big crowd following, will sell merchandise and so on.

He should get a two year deal with Mclaren moving on from then.

On reason to go K. Mag, is to be cheap.

You should see the Autosport forums if you haven't already.

Oh god....

More interesting is Fry and Tombazis on gardening leave from Ferrari.

Ferrari is really clearing house at the moment. Seems a bit panicky, but may well help them. Few years too late though.

Have they really invited both "current" drivers to the announcement tomorrow - or is there a chance of it leaking over night?

Would be even worse if they (in their "wisdom") invited both drivers tomorrow just so the above doesn't happen, but imagine the backlash which ever way it turns out

That's what Williams did, invited both drivers and Button only found out a few moments before IIRC.

Mclaren are free to choose who they want. I think it's madness not to go with Button but then I don't pay the bills. I just think it's embarrassing that a supposed top team doesn't seem to know what the hell it's doing and isn't just hiring the two best drivers it can. They don't owe Button anything, he's been a Judas whenever it suited his career so I don't get all these British fans crying about a lack of respect. He chose to wee on his word and a deal with one of the old gentlemen of F1 when it suited him.

Buttons probably better off out of it if this is the leadership and direction the team has.

Good God Jeffreh, it's all looking rather positive now. Thank God, let's hope this is all right.

Spanish Movistar Employee Ernest Riveras says he is 99.9 percent sure with the info Movistar have that Button has the seat...

Daily Mail have an impeccably placed source from within Mclaren before writing that article and Spanish media ...

"Thursday in the vanguard headquarters McLaren in Woking, 40 kilometers southwest of London , sit together at a table , Ron Dennis as president of the company, Eric Boullier as team manager and both drivers 2015: Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button , who the media campaign of the press in his country has helped to stay on the team despite some authoritative opinions of the British team , who preferred the young Dane Magnussen . A new era begins : three-year contract to start winning races the first year and launch the attack on his third title in the next two. As was the case in Ferrari , the illusion is maximum. Hopefully the future give reason and has accurately confirm your decision."

Fingers Crossed but it's looking good !

Alonso partnering a popular and successful British racing driver at McLaren, with the expectation that he will easily have him covered...

Sounds familiar :p

BBC also reporting Button has the seat now.

The headline is, and then the article doesn't. The BBC really are making themselves look incompetent with their F1 media coverage lately!

It says it in the 1st line (article last updated before your post)

(not that it matters :))

Have to agree though BBC are getting considerably worse - a few years ago they would have broken this kind of news, those days are long gone however

Benson is awful. His articles are structured like a 7 year old would write a story, and he almost always gets his info from other places who have it first.

His first headline after Bianchi's accident was also something like "Hamilton dominates race in Japan" which he quite rightly got slated for.
