There was one a while back where the headline said "Alonso signs for McLaren", and then the first line said "Alonso is expected to sign for McLaren" :rolleyes:

.

Their article about the report into Bianchis accident was also so one sided and deliberately misslleading it was basically a page of one snippet of one guys opinion rather than anything bordering fact.

Anyway, with Button in the seat that suggests Ron failed in his plans to buy a majority share of McLaren?

Would certainly seem that way... Unless he used Button being retained as leverage to get more shares in the company, he is a crafty one after all

Think it's the sensible choice to keep Button and it'll be an immensely experienced and talented driver pairing for next year... Just need to get their car right now!

I do feel sorry for Magnussen though, will now have to sit out for at least a year, but in all honesty could well be his one and only season in F1, there are always new young drivers trying to get into F1.

The risk McLaren have is that they will likely be replacing both their drivers in the next couple of years. With that in mind keeping someone lime Magnussen retained in a test role would be a good solid foundation.

Unfortunately with the current testing regulations there isn't much chance for their young drivers to get any car time, it'd be just like throwing him in as a rookie again, which is a shame.

Plus if McLaren deliver a decent car, they will have drivers queuing up for their seats so they'd have their pick of the current drivers too!

BBC are reporting (Speculating it seems) that Jenson Butlin is McClaren's driver for 2015 with Fernando being his teammate

Most news sources/motorsport related folk are reporting the JB news now also, Alonso has been a given for some time.

I bet he feels really wanted by Ron. Hopefully Ron will be gone soon and they can get some better direction and personal to take them forwards. The whole saga has been a shambles.

Don't think Button cares what Ron thinks, he loves his engineers and team mates / family / physio / manager / wife to be etc. and they are all he needs.

I still don't think Alonso will share his setup data. We will find out in a few months.
McLaren could win a race in 2016.

I think that they made the right call but took far to long to make it. JB and Alonso are the two best drivers and have proven it. Realistically JB only has a year or two left and then KMag will step up, as a 23/24 year old with a decent career still ahead of him.
