F1 2015 - Teams and Drivers - Who goes where?!

You're the one saying the WDC is just 'nice' for a team, and they care more about the WCC. I don't know what to say really.

It is a nice extra for the team, and they do care more about the WCC, you then made a statement that I believe to be false.

In fact, I'd say that sponsors probably care more about the WCC too, unless they have a sponsor deal with an individual driver.

Would be interested to know who leaked it last night tbh, the press knew in minutes.

The press will have been briefed last night but placed under an embargo. Once someone leaks it then it becomes a free for all for mainstream media. Smaller publishers like Autosport won't break the embargo though as it's their bread and butter. It's similar to a mobile phone launch/announcement - they give notice so media outlets can prepare.

Dennis on lengths of Button and Alonso deals: "What I can say with both is they are plural not singular."

:o :)

Ron Dennis says decision to offer Button two-year deal was his. JB says he wants to be around for long-term.

BooooooooooooooM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You seem happy! I hope you don't get too upset when Alonso inevitably performs better than Button and people bait you every race :p

I think it is the wrong choice to be honest.

Yes, Button is the better driver at the moment, but with only a couple of years left he won't provide another title, Alonso may only have a couple of years left, I think he does have a chance at least of being able to give a title to McLaren if they give the car.

Magnussen while slower, I'd have thought would have been a better long term option for them to develop the driver.

It doesn't matter, they don't need to sign drivers that might come good in the future, they sign the best available to them and when the time comes to replace them they will. Mclaren don't need to look 2 or 5 years down the road. None of it matters if they don't get the car right.

Keep your wallet handy Ron, remember how much my last McLaren drive cost you.

I think it was being cheating scumbags that cost them £100m not Alonso. :p Shows the complete lack of dignity in F1 that they kept Pedro despite him costing them millions swapping emails and they go back to the driver who threatened to tell the authorities. You would think Ron would rather let Alonso rot. I can't see it going well. He didn't forget Jacques telling him to **** off so I can't see him being that happy having to go back to Alonso.

hah, tbf I'm expecting Alonso to be better so I won't be rising to any of it if he out performs Jenson, this is going on what every one reputedly says - Alonso being the best driver on the grid... so it's win win, if Jenson loses it's expected according to all and sundry, if he wins = :D

I wonder if there are any more crazy Button fans about like smr? Then I wonder what Button would actually think of some one like smr if he saw the things he says? Intresting.

Good on Button though. They have made the correct choice here imo, they are going to need two very experienced drivers if they want that Honda unit to perform in 2016.

Meh, Alonso will likely make Button look good next year. I think he's vastly over rated and has been way more mistake prone in the past couple of years and I'm not sure how good he's ever been. Not that I think he's bad, but half the premise of him being brilliant is, he's a WDC... which for me has literally never meant a single thing other than good car. Most people base the idea that ALonso is brilliant on the erroneous idea that the Ferrari has sucked for 5 years and ALonso has only been consistently in the top 3 through driving alone. The Ferrari LOOKS a handful, but it's been mostly a decent but not RBR quality car in his time there.

Either way I pretty much expect them to be quite close. The Honda will suck or it won't, both cars will likely be where the engine is worth as they will be the only car with it. Worse than the Merc, better than the Ferrari/Renault then if they both consistently finish behind Merc/Williams and maybe Lotus with FI being their usual levels of pointless with other teams following them won't be surprising.

If it's somehow the bestest engine ever made then they'll go 1-2 and be as "close" as Rosberg was to Hamilton despite Rosberg being utterly destroyed in on track racing.

If the engine completely and utterly sucks, they'll both be back behind everyone except Sauber and whoever the heck is behind them next year.

What I'm saying is if that car had a Merc engine, and there were 5 teams with the same engine then they would likely mix it up with all those teams and better driver has more scope to show how much better he is.

Is it just me, or does it looks like Alonso's head has been badly photoshopped into those pictures on the previous page :p. I know it hasn't, but it certainly gives me that impression, especially on the second picture
