Fallout 4 to feature Nvidia Gameworks

Also pre-ordered 2 pipboy editions here.
One for me, another for my son :p

Yeah its useless tat....but it's tat I want.

I've been collecting that tat for years :D First up my dev Tshirt. Only the devs had these (you can see them wearing them in the documentary)

And front.

Then FO3, FO3 BOS and FONV box sets.

Gamestop FONV pre order coaster set.

And a 5ft launch poster for Fallout New Vegas in the USA.

The only thing I don't have is the original Pip Boy edition, mainly on account of it reaching around $600. They're very rare !

Shiny!!

Marketing Definitely Works. Jedi mind trick style. Sheep's lapping it up.
While the image is funny, it's not exactly true. There have been plenty of worthwhile Nvidia additions in games. My favorite will always be PhysX in Borderlands. Man, there was so much goodness from that, the cloth and particle physics were awesome as was some of the extra visual effects from weapons.

Devs under Bethesda umbrela don't need Gameworks to be bug fests. They manage to crap out on their own. Most recent one is Skyrim with its no instruction set for CPUs policy. Every single game under Bethesda was complete mess on launch. I fear with such late Gameworks announcement we might have another batman on our hands.
There is no announcement. This is all just a rumor from a site that regularly gets things wrong.

Not saying they are definitely wrong, but dont go assuming this is all definitely true.

Having just played it all the way through, I can confirm it is still a mess of bugs. I installed the unofficial patch but still crashed a lot. I haven't F5'd so much since the older days of fps shooters.
Modding the ini file to use more cores and threaded AI helped, but the recommended core count of 2 still left me crashing. Setting to 4 alleviated a lot of crashing but gave zero performance gain.
This was on Win 10 so some of the blame could go towards that.

Having exactly the same issue as you on Win 7 - except fortunately it hasn't crashed yet since setting core count to 2. I also can't alt+tab out of the game or it 75% of the time won't come back if I go back to it.

Plus, the only reason I'm playing it now, is when I first bought it it just crashed as soon as I left the Vault right at the start, every time.

The PIP boy interface (lack of weapon switching with mousewheel etc) and general feel of shooting/mouse movement on menus are terrible. I can't believe this game was released 4 YEARS after HL2 for christ's sake. It feels completely **** to play, though I hear nothing but good things about it so going to power through it before 4 comes out (and hope it's got better)

As much as it pains me to say it this game was solely designed to work with the 360 controller.

At first, like you, I thought shooting the gun freely (without using the Pip Boy V.A.T.S) was completely terrible. Then I realised that it was because at first your shooting is awful, not the game's. As you level up and increase your aim properties and so on it becomes much more fluent. Early in the game you can actually see the bullets go miles wide of the intended target, so always stick to V.A.T.S. The only gun really worth using in free mode is the sniper rifle from long range. Oh, and the dart gun can be used as an improvised sniper rifle too.

The graphics weren't the best then either, no. Crysis had a much better engine. However, Fallout 3 was advanced in the fact that the game world was huge and you could see for miles. The first taster of this was when you leave the vault, however, I fear now that too much water has passed under the bridge and you won't get the same feeling you would have done in 2008 when you leave the vault, which is pretty much "OMFG is that the game world?".

Even now with the lightning and browned out theme there will be nice moments. Sometimes when it's getting dark the sunset shines through the burnt stumps of trees and it can actually be quite beautiful.

As for your other complaints? It's not a FPS and was never meant to be. It's an RPG pure and simple and you need to adjust your play style for the mechanics of the game.

If you can't? it wouldn't be the first time I have seen that. Some people just didn't get on with it at all.

Use a 360 controller though. Aiming isn't something you really need to worry about too much and TBH using a gun without V.A.T.S will see you waste a lot of precious ammo. I was dead against using the controller at first, but soon realised after around 13 hours of play that the keyboard and mouse were far less comfortable to use for prolonged sessions.

Maybe it just ain't you though dude?

Mirror's Edge, Batman, Alice Madness returns, Borderlands were great examples of PhysX and I really felt it improved the games.

Always been a supporter of PhysX(just abhor the forced disabled attitude while running solely through Nvidia when AMD present in the system), it's fantastic candy and agree with greg it can improve immersion and can add to the chaos, never got the 'it doesn't act/look real' comments though, it's a game-nothings real.:D

I remember Mafia 2. I was up on the roof tops in the freezing cold (it was snowing) and I was trying to shoot these three guys but they were standing behind vents and the steam was warping them.

Yeah Physx was actually completely boss when it was used correctly. Just a shame Nvidia decided to buy it out and then basically ruin it.

I had no issues with it on m+kb myself. Couldn't imagine playing it on a 360 controller, but then I've never taken to any first person game on a controller (except goldeneye). As for VATs, I found it a real waste of time, I hardly used it. After a while of skilling up the weapons, I found I wasn't missing too much.

I'll just leave this here, needs a lot of work but.... yeah

No NV PhysX was used during this production. :p

Don't scream at me i'm just a hobbyist.
