Fallout: New Vegas

Has anyone ever made mods for Fallout 3 / NV? I kinda fancy having a go...

I have the GECK downloaded and i'm planning to try it out some time this week.

I will probably start with a few of the basics such as weapons retextures and maybe an armour. It is supposed to be fairly straightforward(it would have to be for me to have any chance;))

Sounds great, keep us informed if you do!

Finished NV a few months ago.. Looking through the last few pages I miss it :/ I might have to give the DLCs a go.

Worth it?

Honest Hearts seems to be more popular than Dead Money and Old World Blues is considered the best one so far as I can see, so OWB, Honest Hearts and then Dead Money.

I've only played the first two but I only paid £2.24 for them, I don't know if I'd buy them at £7.50. I liked them but the first two are a bit Marmite, DM in particular.

Can you play the DLC's after you've finished the main game?

Not really. You play the dlc during the game as extra quests. After finishing the main game, it will end. It does however create a savegame just before the end so you can go back and do what you want to do or what you missed.

Actually, i don't get the bit where the latest patch creates a savegame so that you can continue after. What was to stop you doing that anyway?

Going to post a load of recommended mods, it'd be nice if some of you guys could contribute.

New Vegas Bounties
New Vegas Bounties II
Electro-City
Classic Fallout Weapons Restoration
****
Weapon Mods Expanded (WMX)
The New Bison Steve Hotel
A World Of Pain
Bottle That Water
MTUI
Improved Throwing
Fellout: New Vegas
Light Step ED-E
Higher Stakes Gambling
Project Nevada

Some mods may not be for some people. But they are all worth checking out.

DUI will always be the best tbh. All the other mods will try to be compatible with it too as it is by far the most popular. It is what i used for my first playthrough.

The Escapist have just done an overview of all of the DLC so far for anyone wondering whether to get them:)

They seem to like all of them so far

Dead Money
In short, Dead Money is a near-perfect expansion. It breaks the style and mechanics of the original game just enough to offer something truly unique - but not so much that it feels out of place - and adds enough new content to give players a reason to spend even more time with the game than they already have (I'm at 200+ hours and counting). The story is inventive and enjoyable (if a touch overwrought at times) and all of the new elements are welcome additions. I finished playing Dead Money wishing it had been longer - or that the main game of New Vegas had shown as much polish and inventiveness.
Honest Hearts
Honest Hearts is a whole other kettle of Geckos. Set in what used to be Zion National Park, Honest Hearts will fill you in on the back story of the legendary "Burned Man," as well as give you a chance to decide the fate of the tribals living in Zion, whom the Burned Man has been protecting from Caesar's Legion.
What really makes Honest Hearts sublime, however, is the scenery, the haunting exploration and how seamlessly it fits into the overall New Vegas experience while simultaneously putting the larger game to shame.
Old World Blues
Old World Blues, released in July, is something yet again wholly different from both the previous two DLC adventures, as well as New Vegas itself, yet, strangely, it's the DLC that feels the most like Fallout.
Old World Blues dumps you off in a semi-abandoned research facility deep in the desert, removes your brain, spine and heart, replaces them with perk-giving cybernetics and tasks you with ridding the facility of the mad scientist who's taken it over in the intervening years since the Great War. To say this is an odd start for an adventure is putting it mildly, yet the oddness of the adventure's beginning is just scratching the surface.
Bottom Line: Each of the three DLC adventures offers something different, but of the three Old World Blues is by far the most interesting and engaging. Dead Money will show you a side of Fallout you would never have expected and Honest Hearts, while a bit short, rounds out the main game adventure very nicely.
Recommendation: Each DLC is worth the money for die-hard Fallout players, but those on a budget would do well to start with Old World Blues and then grab the other two with whatever spare points you find laying around.

When you buy these DLC add-ons do they essentially add a new area to your existing game continuing on with your character or is it essential a new game, so to speak, starting a new character?

Sorry if this question has been asked before but I just wanted to know as I might purchase one of them. Someone told me before that the Fallout 3 ones allowed you to continue on with your character and level up further (I think).
