Fallout: New Vegas

Indeed, don't hang about though not sure when it ends.

Also a bit annoyed that it was 25% off on Friday, going to really cheese some people off who purchased then like me.

Fallout Lonesome Road DLC delayed

The Fallout: New Vegas Lonesome Road DLC will no longer be released this month, Bethesda has announced.
"We just wanted to drop in here and let you know that due to circumstances beyond our control, Lonesome Road won't be out this month," explained a forum post. "This isn't due to any major issue with the code or content, but there are lots of factors involved in releasing these things, and one of those is causing us to slip past our intended release date.
"We don't have an exact date yet, but we're working to get it out as quickly as possible. We'll be announcing the final date, along with a couple of other interesting FNV-related items in the near future."

Pretty cagey about the reasons

They have released this screenshot though

Im struggling with my explosives based character, as far as I can see there is now way to craft rockets / missles and the shops are very understocked. Is this just another case of fallout is designed around gun using snipers (just like fallout 3 was).

Are there any mods that make explosive more feasable?

Definitely check out the Nexus, there will almost certainly be mods for that, not that i have tried any. Overhaul mods such as **** and Project Nevada do change ammo though. Might be worth reading through the descriptions

Lots of 'must have' mods in my humble opinion. Does rather depend on if you play the hardcore version of the game, too.

Fallout Mod Manager or 'FOMM'. This makes every mod amazingly easy to install and I cannot recommend it enough. In fact, I'm pretty sure some mods require it. Have a look through these excellent lists for the 'top 100' mods and so on.

Anyway, a selection of my MUST HAVES:

PerkEveryLevel - for some reason in vanilla it's every other level or something annoying.
UndergroundHideout - a simple, sprawling home packed full of easy to use features. I love the displays and being able to sort all your ammo, crafting supplies, aid, clothes at the press of a button - and then being able to display them all, too!
Centered 3rd Person Camera - the vanilla camera angle annoyed me.
Fellout - darker nights, nicer skies and more. The kind of thing you think you can do without until you install it! Get CateyeGogglesOnly, too as they will help you during the nights.
Blackwolf Backpacks - really handy and they look nice.
Weapon Mods Expanded - does what it says on the tin. Nice for more experienced player to tinker with weapons.
New Vegas Bounties - adds LOADS of new content.
101 posters and billboards - brightens up the wasteland no end ;)
The 3 NV Interiors mods - they add a lot more enterable buildings. I don't know about you guys but I hate finding a building boarded up!
UrgeWasterScarf - adds two shemaghs that look great and really compliment a lot of outfits. They also cover up that awful 'neck seam'.
A World of Pain - adds more content to kill.
Dimonized Type 3 - replaces the vanilla version with a much better body - many other mods need this.
Narrowed Should Body Meshes - much better shoulders for Type 3.
New Vegas Script Extender and Archive Invalidation - necessary for most mods.
Weapon Retexture Project - makes the guns look MUCH better.
Beware of Girl Type 3 - makes the Type 3 bodies look nicer.

The above might not list the actual names - this is just off the top of my head. ALso, there are way more 'essential mods' but a lot depends on your play style. You can find them all at Fallout New Vegas Nexus.

******SPOILERS BELOW*******

Has anyone managed to take over New Vegas for themselves? If so, what are the benefits? I can't find anything comprehensive online about it.

Just started 'Old World Blues' DLC. Pretty difficult!

"Old World Blues enemies post a much larger threat for Couriers at Level 40+, as enemies may 'level' with the player".

Jesus i'm getting my ass kicked by these dogs & the anti-material rifle+incen ammo feel's average at best. I'm on level 43 but my remnants power armor is at 20% damage so this one is gonna be interesting.

Best add-in i've played so far & the "penis fingers" was very funny.

Got the Honest Hearts dlc yesterday and played through it. Quite short at 2-3 hours, but was a nice change and some great equipment.

Not sure if the DLC's are worth the £7.99 they cost on consoles though...

Another must-have mod: one that enables you to play without Steam. I have a fully kosher DVD of the game, and yet I can't play the ****ing game because apparently the ****ing Steam servers are busy. Why can't I play the ****ing game I ***ing paid for? I've got the ****ing disk and I still can't ****ing play because I still need to connect the ****ing Steam servers. Why? In the name of God why to I need to connect to the ****ing Steam servers to play the ****ing game I paid for and have the ****ing disk for? The ****ing cover doesn't even say it's a Steam game, never mind that I can't ****ing play if the ****ing servers are busy. Why do I have to download a dodgy illegal patch to do what I paid good money to do? Steam activation I can live with, but when people are ranting about Ubisoft's silly DRMs, why does Steam escape?

And yes, I'm a little unhappy. I already hated Steam even more than I hate the fanbhoys who bang on endlessly about how it's the ****ing future of gaming. This merely confirms my hatred.

And F:NV is not very good either. Although I'd like to play it be sure. At some point. If Steam don't mind.

Suffered from the same issue over the last few nights, assume their servers can't cope with the amount of Deus Ex downloads. Horrid system that I hoped would die years ago.

Usually restarting Steam can fix it. Or changing content servers.

I wouldn't go so far to call Steam a horrid system. But that's for another thread.

Providing you activated it once, you should be able to play it with Steam in offline mode. Works with my Steam in offline mode.

I'm about level 37 and use the flaming knife thing against the dogs which gets them quite quick, if you keep walking away from them whilst using it. Not got any ammo for guns useful against the robot stuff, apart from one plasma one but its slow to fire.

I've not got into the crafting/modding of guns in this, so only using ones found from NV and all the DLCs so far.

Am also getting a problem with starting this game due to steam servers being too busy to handle my request. I have played the game already so it's activated, but it will not start in offline mode. I have also tried changing the download location to see if that helps and no :(
Also it seems to be a problem just with this game as I am able to download demo's as well as start other steam games.
Am not going to emo rage ^^, but it's a bit of a pain :p
