Fallout: New Vegas

Hi Andy C, i got the same mods running on a 5770 and its doing 45-60fps, running like a dream.

I got a bit carried away with mods on Fallout 3 so i am keeping it simple this time and only got 7 running :). My goals were a mod to improve things which Project Nevada does a fantstic job, I liked the EVE mod for the Laser weapons, a companion so i went for willow which is a realy good one, a hide out for my loot and stuff, a UI so it was darns ui which i think is the best, CASM for auto saves every 3 mins as i die a lot or game crashes , MNC for the Textures (Running the smallest one)

I tried Nevada Skys but agree with Pighardia, Project Reality and Imaginator realy make a big difference to the way the weather and MNCs textures look, its like having fellout installed :), and dont forget to use the ATI or Nvidia graphics card fix, works a treat i got it running on Ultra Settings :)

I am finding with New Vegas that you need quite a few less mods to get it to the right level, which is hardly suprising since New Vegas basically is Fallout 3 with lots of improvements mostly added by mods in FO3.

With regards to how well it runs, i have a 965be ate 4.2ghz and a 69502gb with 8gb memory and i used NMC's medium pack. It looks excellent, but i am getting a hell of a lot of stuttering which could be lag due to the increased LOD or it could be due to NMC's i'm not sure yet. I will mess around with the ini to see what makes a difference

Another thing is that there are alredy loads of bugfixes etc for New vegas, and the New Vegas configurator is great also, which allows you to change some ini settings with the press of a button.

A few more very useful tools are Mod configuration menu and the Unified HUD project, which makes Project Nevada, DarnUI and Primary Needs HUD work together.

btw, the author of Project reality is releasing a new version at the the end of the month which will have lots of improvements, including more colour in the environment(i think it looks a little too grey atm).

I used the configurator to turn off mouse acceleration and it is now running 100x better. also changed a few more settings an i am getting about 60fps or just under all the time. I am using the alternat D3D9 fix for ATI as well and it has improved it greatly.

The subtle DOF added by Project Reality looks first class.

EDIT- Not getting on at all with Project Nevada so i have disabled the Rebalance and Equiptment modules and installed ****

Is anyone using Momod. and if so, how do you find it?

I am thinking of turning it off, as i don't really think any of the added animals are that great. It is hardly in MMM's class. It would better if it could be configured. AWOP is brilliant though.

I now have Project Nevada core and cyberware modules and **** New vegas and they work very well together. I'm not sure if i will use the rebalance module of PN yet, i didn't really like it, but i suppose it is better than vanilla.

Well i have been playing around with mods and i have struck what i consider to be a very nice balance with the following:

Project Nevada- Core, Cyberware and Rebalance modules
**** New Vegas
WME
EVE
Project Reality
A World of Pain

I decided against a mod which adds creatures as i didn't really think either of the (VVV or Momod) were particularly great, nowhere near MMM standard anyway. I also do not have a mod which increases spawns as i am not really that bothered about that either (thoguh if MMM for New Vegas was released, i would get in in a heartbeat! and it would add both of those features)

Project reality is looking better every time i load up. And i have to comment on how much easier this game is to mod than FO3! i have loads of mods running without even the slightest hint of conflict and no ctd's/pauses etc. **** is also MUCH more stable than in FO3 too.
One thing i have noticed is that many modders now seem to have made their mods more compatible, so there are many less compatability patches needed, amd a lot less conflicts

Another thing, i'm not sure which mod did it, but Caravan is now amazing. You really need to work on it and pick the right cards now, i just had a game against Nash, who is a very early opponent, and one game took me 20 minutes and i only just won. brilliant.

I ahve to say that i really do think that New Vegas is a much better game than FO3 as well.

Here are some screenshots which show off Project Reality-

Well... I took your advise and got stuck in last night...

I loaded up NME's small pack, and project reality. I'm playing it with EVE, the one that makes the menu screens have more text and the one that makes girls nekid when you pinch their armour....

All looks and runs very well. Cheers.

I have to ask... did Project reality add the heat haze 'wobbling' in the daytime.... like you see on a very hot day - or is this something strange but unintentionally 'real life' with my gfx?

I have lost track of the dlc. Thanks for reminding me. Though i have so many mods running that i will have to wait for a ton of compatability patches anyway.

Plus i will probably play it late in the game too. I'm only 10 hours in atm, just got to Novac

project Nevada is excellent. The modified Stealth field is amazing. Compeltely changes my game.

Also powered Power Armour is absolutely brilliant. Aloows you to mod power armour.

The mods for this game are much better thena FO3 and 100 times easier to get stable

With all the updates is this game still ridiculously buggy? I haven't tried it for over 6 months, both times I played for ~20 hours and then hit game-stopping bugs.

I wouldn't say ridiculously buggy, but it is a sandbox game using the gamebyro engine so it was always going to have problems in that area.

Just save often (with different save slots) and you shouldn't need to worry about loosing too much progress.

And obviously the more mods you add the greater chance or bugs and crashes.

I've only played through Vanilla New Vegas with no mods or DLC. Decided to wait until all DLC was out before having another play through, so just about to start a new game with just Project Reality, and Underground hideout (Fallout 3 one was awesome).

Lonesome Road is a disappointing DLC after Old World Blues and I'd only recommend it to those wanting to fully complete the game. Far too linear with enemies that appear after certain checkpoints are reached in the game and only a few tough fights. At least the ending gave you some interesting choices.

Think I agree with Eurogamers score of 5/10.

Just updated my GPU from SLI 8800 GT to a 460 GTX and im getting the HUGE slowdown on NPCs (from 60 -> 12!!!)

anyone know of a fix (the d3d9.dll gives me a black screen) and so far can't find a replacement for the patched game on steam :( ....

help!

"ToggleEmotions" improves the problem but still large framerate drop to 30 FPS with NPCs on screen :(
