Far Cry 4 due this November

How many people have completed the main campaign on this? I like the idea of multiple endings but I don't really feel like there's a good one to pick. They're all pretty despicable people in their own way, but maybe that's the point.

Amita wants to progress the economy of Kyrat, but chooses to do so by enslaving people and forcing them to work in drug fields. She also wants to abandon all Kyrati traditions. Sabal wants to stick rigidly to traditions and in the Yuma mission you see that he beheads people who have failed to uphold these traditions. Pagan Min is a dictator and a tyrant.

I chose Amita instead of Sabal because she seemed to actually want to progress Kyrat, though I didn't like the ways she was trying to go about it. If you let Pagan Min live at the end rather than shooting him, you find out about Ajay's family, so I'm glad that's what I did. All-in-all I don't really like the way Ubisoft have done the story. Amita, Sabal and Min almost seem as bad as each other, in fact I'd argue Sabal is the worst of all of them. It's like Ubisoft have asked you to pick your favourite between Hitler, Stalin and Pol Pot.

Far Cry 4 inspired me to buy Far cry 3 that I am addicted too.

Reading this thread I reckon I saved a fortune by not going for 4. I am yet to find somebody that it is better than 3.

When you have finished 3, get Blood Dragon. It's amazing.

Both are miles better than FC4.

It's FC3 but with a sense of humour, a great and wildly over the top story, 80s style cut scenes and frigging giant dragons shooting lasers out their eyes!

Imagine if someone made a game that was just like FC3, but wasn't boring and glitched ;)

God I wish Ubisoft would fix my account so I could play it again.

yea FC3 is really great, much more so after playing FC4.............the clue is a tropical paradise with excellent views, FC4 is too cold and autumnal...it isn't such a nice walk....too many trees, tall shrubs, dangerous annoying animals, cars running you over and screaming voices/ gunfire/Karma missions

FC3 = Crysis 1...........a really nice game for walking around and seeing your enemies at range.......relaxation !!!

FC 4 isn't a total disaster though, because some of it is pretty awesome

I started playing FC3 again and it's highlighted how weak the story is in FC4. The guy goes to Kyrat to bury his mother's ashes, when he finds out there's a civil war brewing he doesn't leave and return later, he becomes a freedom fighter. He then gets some information about his history to justify, post fact, that he stayed when he should have left. It just seems rather forced, at least FC3 was vaguely believable in that the protagonist clearly had a time sensitive motive to stay on the island. The FC3 guy also had more character and didn't sound like he was falling asleep while reading his lines.

I'm not saying I didn't enjoy FC4 and there are a few features in it which I'd have liked in FC3, but I don't think it's the better game.

What features are there in FC4 that weren't in FC3?

Bait is taken from Blood Dragon. The only real new thing is the helicopter and that actually ruins the game.

waiting for price drop. refuse to pay over £30 for a PC game. esp since FC3 is the same as FC2 and I expect FC4 will be the same. a good game but nothing exceptional or memorable like FC1 was!

The biggest thing is AI, especially with regards animals.

Other little additions are things like the grappling hook (only for use on pre-defined routes), the auto-crafting of certain syringes, the rationalisation of the loot menu, vehicle take-downs etc. It's like a tweaked FC3, but I'd argue with less of FC3's character.

It's still an enjoyable game though, don't get me wrong.

Things I think are fantastic are the animal/animal interactions - they've polished it very well indeed. They behave rather like you see on an Attenborough documentary, with specific take-down behaviours for each animal; a wolf will attack a goat in a different way to a leopard etc. It's a little thing, but adds a certain something.

I must say walking over a hill to see a couple of tigers up on hind legs having a scrap was a nice moment. Until I mowed them both down and skinned their asses :).

The animals are without doubt the best I have seen for lifelike behaviour etc. try finding a Crocodile under the lillypads & then throw bait in front of it & watch the animals run for it & get grabbed by the Croc, also try riding an Elephant to stamp on it & it'll leap out of the water but seemingly does not harm the Jumbo.
The Eagle attacks are over the top but it's also a good way to be quick on the draw & shoot the blighter as it flies away :p

I'm really enjoying the game & it's more than come up to my expectations & I couldn't wait to find my first the buzzer & get airborne but now I realise it's made it far too easy to capture outposts & forts although of course using them is not compulsory  just took out my first fort in the Northern map & took out four helicopters using the grenade launcher from the air & I'm sure it would be much harder from the ground, you can replay any of the outposts at any time but why not the forts ?

To make it worse, you can just about fit those buzzers on the top platform of towers. So you don't even need to climb them if you don't want to, then just jump back in and take off!

maybe there will be another BLOOD DRAGON soon ;)..lets hope so

all of the FAR CRY games lack awesomeness, they're boring, they had the start of it in BLOOD DRAGON but got scared and reverted back to another ``sane and sober shooter``.

FC4 doesn't make you go WOW like in Borderlands 2 ``Tiny Tina's DLC``...or Torgues, FC4 is too dull.

R6 Vegas 2 is a tactical shooter that is great at what it does.........FC4 is trying to be similar, especially when you have to raid the camps/ side missions etc, but this realism is massively contradicted by the stupid mass spawning of just about everything else.

the animals here are totally wrong, they've got no idea of what they're doing, because if you went to Tibet you'd never see a Bengal tiger.......not until he killed you .........but here you've got them running back and forth across the roads, so stupid..........A snow Leopard !!!! i doubt it, they're extremely rare

FC3 had it wrong too, but not as bad as this game, this game is a sensible tactical shooter one minute and then a pile of rubbish the next.

so how do you solve this problem, you reduce the predators massively, but have them targeting you only, this will really scare you because a tiger/wolf etc will kill you without you even knowing it's there, this makes for a very frightening game.............yea but that's real life.

i feel there's two types of shooters...........a fun shooter and a tactical shooter, but it's very hard to combine the two..........FC4 sends out mixed messages

i'd say, but dont release another FC5 until you're damned sure what you're doing``

finally, the guy you play would either be a Merc or an Ex-Marine/ SAS, but definitely not a spoilt American college kid whose only 24.

carrying his mothers Ashes ?............come on get real....so silly, he'd be SAS and sent out there by Interpol whatever, to gather Intel and to investigate the drug problem...... but of course this goes wrong and it ends up as it is.

this needs working on, but it's deffo more realistic than this kid you play.

didnt you moan earlier in the thread about the random animal attacks? Now you want them to kill you without having a chance?? The story is a bit silly, but I'm just going with it and enjoying the pretty damn fine gameplay. It's a fun game imo.
