Far Cry 4 due this November

Running out of memory with 8gbs, do you really need 16gigs of memory for this?

Enjoying the game in general, looks lovely, the gameworld is wonderful, apart from the fifty eagle assaults, it's nuts, i fired a grenade at a truck and in between shots an eagle attacks me, it's so overdone. It's a shame as the animal attacks would be cool if they didn't happen every five minutes.

I've only got 6Gb DDR2 but don't seem to run out of memory, i guess it 's to do with how much is in use for running the system.
The Eagles are fun once you learn to be quick on the draw & shoot them as they fly off you, I get 9 out of 10 now with practice:p

Well I have 8GB and the game keeps crashing on me. It's not after x minutes as it varies each time I play the game. Sometimes it'll be after 10-15 minutes, other times I reckon I can go for 45-60 minutes before the crash happens.

When the crash happens the screen goes black or a pale white or blue colour and I have to turn my PC off; I can't get back into Windows from the crash. I did think earlier that it could have been a sound card issue but even with updated drivers the game still crashes on me. Having read both here and on Ubisoft's FC4 forum about systems with 8GB or less RAM having issues and crashing I can't see what else could be causing my PC to crash.

I've not had an actual crash which ended the game but several times lately when shutting down the game the Uplay screen 'saving to the cloud etc.' hangs & then a message says it's developed a fault & must close or words to that effect. Game loads as normal next time with progress correctly saved.

I did get stuck when trying to get off a buzzer when I landed at an undiscovered location & had to use the map to respawn at another location today

What version of Windows are you on? And how much RAM does your graphics card? I'm on Windows 7, have 8GB of system RAM and my HD7850 has 2GB of RAM. I'm wondering if people with more RAM on their graphics card can get away with having 8GB or less of system RAM.

unlike FC3...............FC4 has much more movement in the grass, trees, shrubs etc and this is probably straining your PC, it's very graphics intensive ..there is a lot going on when you're walking around, not just close by, but off in the distance as well, shouting, gunfire, animals attacking all around

they've depicted THE REALITY OF TIBET wrongly and loaded far too much stuff into this game, it's a mess, it's like rush hour on the M25.

Nature and wildlife is random and much sparser too......especially in Tibet in the shadow of the Himalayas.

deffo, but your card is also getting quite old now, because this is a game that strains my pc as well, it also has a nasty habit of knocking out SLI and defaulting the system back to one card only, i keep seeing this... so annoying.

it's not just a game with far too much going on, it's also top quality graphics as well.......... so it's a double low blow !!!

Yeah I think you are right. What confuses me though is when I'm flying in a buzzer I can see stuff being drawn on the screen as I whizz along. My PC doesn't crash when this happens. And as I have a dual screen setup I can see my desktop with my second monitor. Early on with FC4 I had Task Manager open to see what kind of processor usage I was getting. The game was hitting 60-70%. I was sure that the game must have been hitting 100% to cause a crash.

I checked my emails and I bought it almost 2 years ago and it cost me £135 at the time. I wasn't wanting to spend a lot on a graphics card at that time as I was planning to be building a new PC soon. Two years on and I still haven't! :D But I am planning to build a new PC within the next 2 months because I've now had Wolfenstein: The New Order and FC4 visibly run slow on my PC and there's no point in upgrading just one part of my PC and so it's new PC time. :)

I'm torn between an i7 4790K or a 5820K for my CPU but I'm looking at the GALAX GeForce GTX 970 OC Silent from OcUK whatever CPU I end up choosing. I'm edging more and more to a 5820K so that I'm on a new upgrade path rather than get myself an i7 4790K and be at the end of a path that won't get anything new out for it.

Just completed this and really enjoyed it , once the patches came out the game ran very smooth for me and looked gorgeous.

I never played far cry 3 , how does it compare to 4 graphically and game play wise ?

It's supposed to be a mythical country where the deposed king made it an animal sanctuary so wildlife is thriving everywhere, if it was like Tibet there would be nothing but barren landscapes devoid of life

Best bit of the game in my opinion.

I would love to go back and try a couple of things with the helicopter I found off the right about midway through the flight.

So your graphics card will blow any game out of the water which is probably why you've had no problems with 6GB system RAM. Your graphics card has twice as much RAM as mine and is much, much newer and more powerful. :p

When I first got the game I still had a GTX580 with 1.5Gb memory, I ran the game on a mix of medium & high with no problems other then very minor stutter at high speeds which I still think is down to the hardrive streaming new areas, i still have an outdated CPU, a Q6600 at stock also

What resolution do you game at? Might drop my resolution and some settings down a bit and see if that helps.

I think everyone sees 'popping' when up in a buzzer even with top notch graphix because of the vast viewing area being constantly loaded, this effect might appear to be closer depending on the quality settings.

Farcry 3 graphix are like a cartoon compared to FC4 & as I still have it loaded on my PC so I compared the two, I'm impressed with things like like the trees shaking & flexing when you hover close & leaves ripping off if you touch the branches with the rotor blades & dust clouds when you take off.

Don't really get the leaves ripping off. Might be an Nvidia thing or just the fact you've a modern graphics card. :)

1920X1080 at 120Hz
I'm on 1920x1200 so your graphics card is probably helping you out there even with your CPU being quite similar to mine.

Mines just the standard resolution for the monitor, I originally bought it for the Nvidia 3D shutter glasses which came with it but I don't bother using them as it looks too dark on the few times I've tried it. might give FC4 a try & see what it looks like in 3D

EDIT: FC4 not recommended for 3D

Hi people, can any of you tell me if you had this mouse acceleration problem I've been reading about on the net? I read on other forums and a lot of people are saying the game is unplayable on PC with mouse and keyboard, and I have the exact same problem.

I have a new PC as well, the game runs perfectly, looks amazing, very smooth 50fps and above but with keyboard and mouse it feels weird and clunky and doesnt move properly but with xbox 360 joypad it feels normal.

Apparently the game developers know about this problem but they havent fixed it yet, but have any of you guys had the same problem or know of a fix?

Thanks in advance.
