I tried reducing some of the graphics quality settings from high to the next one down to see if that worked. Game crashed as per usual so I think that the game is so demanding that you need a really modern PC to be able to cope with it.
I know. My heart says get a 4790K but my head says it is more sensible to move to X99 and get a 5820K. I can't get over how much more energy the 5820K uses compared to a 4790K.
I don't do much rendering or Photoshopping but I am in the process of ripping my Blu-rays and DVDs to PC to save space in my room. I'm using MakeMKV and Handbrake for that and I've been told I should think about 5820K for that but, as I say, I want to get a 4790K.
yea because DAZ 3D Modelling really kills your rig, it's miles worst than gaming.......it's like running Prime 95, because for 3D Rendering/animation you really do need a monster Workstation, loads of graphics power
you will need to rebuild again for 4K.....so i would save your money and build similar to me.....but as said, the performance gain is definitely SLI
I used to have i5 2500 at 4.8......80 quid mobo and AMD 7990, that used to play FC3 easily.
an X99 will be the same speed as mine ( with mine on 4.8) but will be better for multi tasking, but not many of the 4770 CPUs go up to 4.8 or even 5.1 because mine is heavily modded as is the Megahalems.... a standard 4770 might not get above 4.4
but around 4.8 although it's really fast, it crashes like crazy, as does the SLI...so the max reliable performance is back at 4.6, with the GTXs backed off as well.
basically you take the GTX 970 Strix up to max overclock before it starts crashing and then back it off to about 50%........... you loose about 10fps in Heaven well what........that's nothing
since i've detuned it, it's perfect and seems about the same performance as before probably because it used to throttle right back quite some time before going Bluescreen without me noticing
even so, it feels twice as powerful as the i5/ 7990 rig and that was a damned fast too !!!!
