• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

Faulty Palit GTX 1070?

I can confirm the fans run all the time on this model contrary to what palit say on their website, but I don't hear them. I don't hear them even under load and I often play with no sound. Very pleased with the card so far.

I don't hear them over quiet case fans until they spin upto around 80% and even then it isn't loud - which does eventually happen when gaming if you want to sustain the out the box boost.

Exactly.

And a mere mention of a problem seems to put people off buying a product.

When buying products (especially electronic items), I do a bit of research and check to see if there is an issue being reported by a large number of owners. The odd bad review doesn't put me off. Too many people get a faulty product and then (strongly) warn others not to buy it, even when there are lots of satisfied owners of the product. It's a case of "using your loaf" before jumping to conclusions.

As do I but its not about the number its about the percentage of products fail in my eyes.

Product A sell 1'000'000 units 1'000 are returned faulty
Product B sell 100'000 units and 500 are returned faulty

Which is a more reliable purchase?

I've received my replacement, which wasn't actually sealed, surprisingly. Both the box and the anti-static bag were open. It does make me wonder if they've just given me a card that was returned, seeing as there's limited stock. I suppose it's possible that they tested it prior to sending it, to ensure it's working. It scored a healthy 14918 during the initial Fire Strike benchmark. We'll see how it goes...

So they replaced your brand new card, which you paid for, with a 2nd hand card?

Sorry, I should have ended my post with /s for sarcasm. My experiences have been somewhat similar to yours then unfortunately.

Would you mind sharing your experience? I'm all ears!

Edit: I've noticed that most people won't hear a bad word said about them. It seems the best way to get some semblance of customer service is to write a negative review on Trustpilot. It's a shame it's come to that!

Everyone on these forums encourages customers to return products if they are not happy with them and then are shocked when other customers receive products that have been opened before! What do you think OcUK does with the returned products? And please don't say they should become B grade products.

Well if they are used doesn't that automatically make them B-grade products?

Also perhaps people are annoyed as the usual solution (offer by many other competitors of OCuk) is to replace the product with a new one. I know that has been my experience when dealing with competitors.

I was attempting to change an email address associated with my account, but it literally took 5 emails back and forth without success, even though I made it very clear why it was a necessary change (it was as if they literally didn't read below the first line each time). Had to eventually call them.

I'm forced to put up with it, sadly. I can't do without a GPU for another 5-10 working days.
