Faulty Palit GTX 1070?

You really should pay attention to the advice that's been given.

You seem to think you should be an exception to the rule, but unfortunately you are not.

Evidently not.

I will certainly take heed of the suggestion of shopping elsewhere in the future. Haribo be damned.

Good luck.

To whoever you shop with. ;)

They'll certainly need it with me. :p

In all fairness, it's not unreasonable to expect the option of an exchange for a different item. Others have acknowledged that most retailers typically offer this as a solution.

tbqh that's quite rare, an exchange for the same item yes, exchange for a different - not so.
sometimes you can bring an item back and refund then buy another off the shelf and often people call it an exchange but really it wasn't.
if you're not willing to take it to them to prove its faulty then you'll have to wait for the mailman i would assume? not many shops will send you a second card hoping you'll send the broken one back, they usually want their stock back first (to check for faults etc) which is reasonable.
good luck however

I agree that it seems a bit odd that you can't choose a diffent product and pay the difference (or even be refunded the difference if the product you choose is cheaper). However, you could just accept a refund and order a different product. It's hardly a problem.

Did they give you a specific date when you would likely have a replacement? If I got one by like Wednesday I wouldn't be too upset personally.

Anyway, if the OP hasn't got things sorted (a refund or a replacement) in about a week's time, he might have reason to question Overclockers customer service.

Think it's a bit of a shame what a bashing Palit is getting in this thread. My Gamerock 1070 Premium has been absolutely faultless and I've seen many other posts by people delighted with their purchase, I still wouldn't hesitate to recommend their cards.

Technical issues can unfortunately happen with any manufacturer, it's just bad luck.

Indeed.

What about the ASUS guy who had instability when using the OC mode?

Or my old 970 FTW card (top of the line evga model not base model) was unstable out of the box.

Does this mean asus and evga cannot be trusted or do they get different treatment to palit?

My palit 1070 is still going fine.

I agree these situations shouldnt be happening but its certainly not limited to the palit brand.

In most cases of "faulty out of the box" it must be lack of proper testing at the factory. I suspect every manufacturer tests their graphics cards before packaging and dispatch, but are those tests thorough enough ? A 5 minute test under full load would eliminate most cases of "dead on arrival". Obviously there is a cost involved in testing, so manufacturers have to work out how much testing should take place.

I`ve had a look through that thread, and it doesn't convince me that there is any widespread problems with Palit GTX1070s, and the issue discussed seems to be related to Displayport problems rather than graphical artifacts.

Some more info.....

https://forums.geforce.com/default/...s/-gtx-1070-no-signal-when-using-displayport/

You can find problem threads for just about anything to be fair if you google enough heh.

Well, My 1070 arrived and neither the display ports or the HDMI port works. I am using the DVI connection at the moment. Went to try and install the drivers to see would that help with the problem, and can't install them either. Gives me an error about incompatible drivers.

And like above when I went looking to see if other people were having the same issues, I found lots of complaints. Seems there is a problem with the Display port on these cards, doesn't seem to be restricted to Palit cards either.

It is very unlikely than any manufacturer would test cards under load, normally the testing/inspection would be a combination of AOI, ICT, flying probe etc. Any form of inspection and testing can add considerable cost to a product.

Still playing the waiting game! It's one of those unfortunate circumstances, because I had arranged time in order to make the most of my upgrade, and now I'm sat here twiddling my thumbs! :p
