Faulty Palit GTX 1070?

It is very unlikely than any manufacturer would test cards under load, normally the testing/inspection would be a combination of AOI, ICT, flying probe etc. Any form of inspection and testing can add considerable cost to a product.

Dunno about in this case but with similar electronics it is usually the case of basic power on diagnostics and pulling say 1 in 20 out of the line to actually test.

mines been sent back and refund given. waiting for the funds to appear then will plan my next move

So they confirmed the card was faulty and agreed to a refund? I expect I'll hear from them tomorrow. I won't accept anything other than complete satisfaction.

OcUK have confirmed that the GPU is faulty. They are issuing a replacement, but they haven't specified when! I hope it's not **B Grade** or something. They don't appear to have many in stock, if at all.

I doubt you'll be sent a B Grade card.

Simply check the packaging, the box should be sealed.

And try to stop worrying, it'll make no difference to the outcome (which is highly likely that you'll have a brand new working card).

Having said that, you do know that apparently the fans on the card always run, despite the specifications claiming that they stop when the temp is less than 50C ?

I'm a worrier. It's probably why I'm bald! :D

I didn't know that, no. It's not a major deal breaker, as long as the darned thing functions this time!

Edit: Finally been sent some tracking info. Should be here tomorrow. Saints be praised!

Good. I'm sure you'll let us know how you get on with the replacement.

To be honest, the fans running constantly is not really a problem, and I doubt you'll be able to hear them. The fans on my Gamerock Premium sometimes start up, even when I'm not running any 3D apps (in warmer weather). When they do start up, I hear a very slight "click". It would probably be better if they were running constantly.

Why has this feature been omitted from the version I have? Do you have a source btw?

I`ve read reports from other owners of this card.

I suspect it's because the heatsink is different (slightly smaller and less effiecient) than the slightly more expensive models. Although even with a slightly smaller heatsink, it should be possible for the card to stay below 50C under light load when used with a 1080p monitor.

Quick question....

Running a Palit GTX Dual 1070 here. Should the fans drop to zero ?

The min speed they ever get to is 1000rpm.

Do I need to use the thundermaster utility to manually override the fan settings, or should it do it out of the box ?

*EDIT* Just installed the thundermaster utility - the minimum fan setting appears to be 32% which is about 1000 rpm - hmmm ?

Social media behaviour is totally different to a forum.

Isn't going off-topic generally frowned upon on internet forums?

Update: I plan to use DDU as a precaution before installing the latest driver for the GPU. I only ever used it when migrating from AMD to Nvidia hardware or vice versa. I wouldn't think going from a 970 to a 1070 would be problematic?

I can confirm the fans run all the time on this model contrary to what palit say on their website, but I don't hear them. I don't hear them even under load and I often play with no sound. Very pleased with the card so far.
