Fidelity Super Resolution 2.0

Some performance improvements while increasing the image quality.

Indeed! FSR 2.1 is looking very good now, the temporal stability and lack of shimmering is pretty much matching dlss now, I imagine the fizzle/disocclusion issues will also be fixed too  Hoping SE 3 gets FSR 2.1 very soon as I had to put that game on hold due to the awful aliasing/shimmering.

If you've seen this ghosting why not make a video and show it compared to DLSS? Pretty sure the guy who did the video didn't 'pick and choose' the scene since he does the same scene in every video.. As it stands FSR 2.1 is getting close to DLSS without Tensor cores and works on all gpu's. That's a win for AMD.
I'm not saying he chose maliciously, just that what he chose doesn't expose the severe problems it does have and which you will definitely run into as you play the game. As for a video I can't do it because I don't have it installed anymore & I cba to re-download it given its size. I tested it, was underwhelmed and decided to make space as I won't replay it for years probably.

Check 27 seconds in the tree in FSR 2.1 is holding up better than DLSS.

52 seconds in and FSR 2.1 is clearly glitching out in the background. I do wonder if this was added into the game by the devs instead of the mod would they have more control in limiting this?

2.20 car in FSR 2.1 is clearly ghosting

Possibly would have more control as iirc the guy who originally modded 2.0 into dlss games said he couldn't edit/touch anything to do with fsr 2 itself.

Not 100% sure but think dlss might have sharpening on there as that is usually the side effects of over sharpening with upscaling tech I find, well with dlss it is/was anyway.

Both are now at a stage I wouldn't really care if to use dlss or fsr 2.1  I wonder if amd will now allow dlss in games given how good fsr 2.1 is looking :D

I placed the two FSR 2.1 dlls into the RDR2 main directory (I assume that is the correct way to install it?) and I have to say when playing I was hard pressed to notice much difference with FSR Q (6/10 sharpening) vs 4K native. I would need to take screenshots and compare them side by side with https://imgsli.com/ to try and notice a difference. I will take some later to compare.

I've not been able to find that St Dennis train area that Poneros mentioned yet, but I have yet to see any obvious issues with ghosting or such. If I manage to find it, I'll be sure to test that.

Video processing.

Yeah, I can see it on the power lines, the trees and the birds. I did not see any in actual gameplay though when I played it and I was specifically looking out for it. However, I did not sit on a train.

Does it reproduce anywhere on a train or just that specific location? Also, can you mark a spot on the map where that location is so I can try it on my end?

I think I'm using the FSR 2.1 mod so curious to see if it helps.

I see it too, @Poneros. I can even notice it with FSR 2 off tbf.

Also, it looks like FSR 2.1 is not working for me in RDR2, as there are no files to replace like with the Dying Light 2 FSR 2 mod which I have working.

I would like to see if 2.1 helps this at all.

Decided I'll add some snapshots from video since it's going to take forever to process at 4K.

Yeah, that came to mind too, and now that I re-tested it I can confirm it's more a problem on the train rather than on foot/on horse, so I'll have to take back my harsh assessment of FSR here. I cannot induce such ghosting outside of the train scenario. I think it might be an issue with the material of the window taking precedence over the objects in the background, so that's why ghosting was so obvious there (and why I initially thought looked great but then was shocked, as I just went by train by happenstance and that's how I got to see it, and where I ended the testing; was a bit prejudiced by my testing in NMS (modded) where that's how it actually looked in the game all the time lol).

That matches my findings then which is good.

Have you managed to get FSR 2.1 working in RDR2?

There does not seem to be any files to overwrite (like with other mods, Dying Light 2, etc) so it does not seem to be working as far as I can tell and is just FSR 2.

Nah, didn't bother. Actually can't fault the original FSR implementation here (besides train scenario) so figured what's the point. :P Still some obvious ghosting around shoes while walking tho, +- depending on the surface, but that's a minor issue.

Interesting to see how much scaling there is between settings for RDR 2 but also a bit peculiar in terms of gpu usage & gpu power usage. Ultra settings really making my 6800 cry, had to turn on my OC and ramp up the fans, even with FSR Performance but can't quite cap 60 fps in St Denis. Going to X1X settings reduces the strain, but strangely even though gpu usage goes down a lot (50%ish) & downclocks <1800mhz the card still hovers around ~150w or more (chip alone). Funnily enough I kind of prefer keeping the card cooler than maxing out the visuals here, but then again this is just taking another look rather than a serious playthrough.

I don't know why I thought the card would trivialise the game, it's still 4K, but it's definitely making me re-consider the plan to not jump to upgrade the GPU on launch day. Better get my wallet ready I guess.

You need a 6950 XT or similar for 4K max settings, I get around 71 FPS at Ultra settings (0x MSAA) and 73-74 FPS without Relive recording perf hit.

Also, just benched DX12 vs Vulkan with FSR2 at the same settings, 4K Ultra settings. Just 1 FPS in it in favour of DX12, 89 vs 90 FPS.

Videos should be ready for viewing tomorrow.

Have you got FSR 2.1 to work with Dying Light 2 as there are no dll's to replace I can find.

Interesting found mention of cyberpunk 2077 in one of the nvidia ini files too in the DL2 folder.

No, I didn't, just FSR 2. But it's had an official implementation now. However, the FSR 2 mod still works and it basically enables you to use DLSS instead. Or at least you select DLSS in the menu, can't say for sure that you are truly using it as I cannot see any differences in IQ between them. Regardless, in Dying Light 2 DLSS is a few FPS faster (i tested this a few pages back) so I'd use that until/if Techland implement FSR2.1.
