Fifa officials including vice president Jeffrey Webb arrested, Blatter getting it at last.

Haven't former slippery eels just resigned before anything could be done? Or did they not involve criminal proceedings? I look forward to his daughter's second interview.

Jack Warner dodged the FIFA bullet by stepping down from his specific role a few years back, but it wasn't a criminal investigation then.

In before £m's are accounted for and more arrests are made during the next couple of weeks. Meanwhile Blatter sits in his mansion in Switzerland for cooperating.

Frankly, it's a waste of time unless the elected successor commits to presidential election reform and competition bidding reform.

I bet a few questionable figures will throw their name into the hat now, and they stand a very good chance of being elected under the current system. It's already been shown that the smaller FAs care little about reform, and everything about maintaining the status quo.

This has to be the end of the Russian and Qatar wc too.

  • Felt a lack of support by people in the world of football. Finally clocked that almost nobody in Europe supports FIFA
  • Did not want to wait until next Fifa congress in Mexico 2016
I would probably be arrested by then
  • "Interests of Fifa are very dear to me and that is why I have taken this decision" Sponsors are threatening to pull out
  • "What counts most to me is Fifa and football around the world"
  • "By stepping down allow Fifa to go further than ever before in terms of reform"Err the rug is overflowing with ****, so someone else can deal with it

:D.

I can imagine it being a case of 'As long as I'm in charge you're all safe ;)' and now it's panic stations.

It can only be a matter of time until the bracelets are put on wrists. Good residence, go and take up residence with that ex Ukrainian president that fled to Russia.

BBC's Dan Roan says, "Think this is bad for Blatter? Could be a lot worse for Qatar."

Could something actually happen to Qatar's staging of the world cup or is it too late? Not sure why Russia's World Cup rights haven't been mentioned then. If the process of choosing a world cup host is dodgy then, as two successive world cup hosts were announced in one go, surely both bids were dodgy?

Does anybody really believe Blatter going will change anything? The issue isn't just Blatter or even FIFA, the problem is that half the football associations in the world are corrupt. Blatter's just the face of it.

Like with most of the governments around the world, Blatter and the heads of these various football associations will go but they'll just be replaced by another corrupt government.
