Fifa officials including vice president Jeffrey Webb arrested, Blatter getting it at last.

Airing his view on the slave problem in Qatar, which will host the 2022 World Cup (2013): "My grandmother always said a clock rings ding and dong, not ding-ding-ding. You have to listen to ding and to dong, and for now I only hear ding. I will go there, and listen to the dong."

Yes Sepp, go play with the Dong.

DING DONG THE WITCH IS DEAD :D:D:D

Does anybody really believe Blatter going will change anything? The issue isn't just Blatter or even FIFA, the problem is that half the football associations in the world are corrupt. Blatter's just the face of it.

Like with most of the governments around the world, Blatter and the heads of these various football associations will go but they'll just be replaced by another corrupt government.

I think things will get better but it won't be a magic bullet and things certainly won't change over night. They need a smaller congress, more transparent voting and clear indications of how where/money is used to stop anyone else bribing the poor nations to stay in power. This is the first step on a long path, let's just pray Platini doesn't get it!

Still, for today, DING DONG THE WITCH IS DEAD! :D

He'll probably be hoping that he can just retreat to being an "ordinary" Swiss citizen and avoid extradition for all the **** he inevitably orchastrated and took part in. We all know this was in no way done for the "good" of the game but another move to ensure he protects his own **** and feathers his nest further.
He needs to get himself to a country without an extradition treaty with the US. The Swiss are meant to be able to send the people they arrested last week off to the US quite quickly aren't they?

I'm certainly not pro-Blatter but I have my doubts that he was actively involved in all that went on. What I do think is he turned a blind eye to it and was happy to go along with his incredible belief that he was a great leader, destined for a Nobel prize. Although that's based on nothing more than a hunch from the impression I get from hearing him speak.

There is no way you can have such rampant corruption/bribery going on and genuinely have no clue what is going on. Wasn't he the one alleged to have offered Warner 10mil to vote for South Africa?

I sort of agree to an extent. I think it is unlikely that he is 'directly' involved with this corruption, however I think that he has probably turned more than just 'a blind eye' to what has been happening. FIFA's general secretary Jérôme Valcke is apparently on the verge of being 'taken down' and that's very close to Sepp.

I think that there is probably evidence (In the time between his election and now it wouldn't surprise me if he had a phone call with a US attorney) that implicates or drags him in to this. The rot at FIFA is unbelievable either way.

It is interesting that only Europe seems to have an issue with this all though.

Difference between knowing what is going on and being directly involved in what is going on.

To quote the Wire 'You follow drugs, you get drug addicts and drug dealers. But you start to follow the money, and you don't know where the **** it's gonna take you.'

I wonder how all of this is going to end. Are we likely to see anyone get jailed?

Largely irrelevant of what these people have done (in terms of severity), they are all very wealthy (as is FIFA) and can afford very good legal defences.

No doubt the new president will receive Sepp's endorsement before the election ensuring the Asia/Africa block vote.

It can't be business as usual the story is to big now and sponsors, UEFA fans etc won't put up with it any longer. Once jail terms are handed out the FIFA brand will be toxic so they can't afford another scandal.

The President of FIFA just does not need the 'European' vote to be elected. Sepp has proven this .
