It's not about Gerrard being a great footballer. He's a very good captain with extremely high levels of expectation for those around him. As much as I hate the **** at club level, England would have done worse without him .

Who else do you put in there instead of him ?? Glass Ankles ???

England at National level fundamentally do not play as a team.

"The big problem for England is the Premier League. We bang a drum about what we have. We hype all our players up massively.
"We don't know how to win games, it is not about picking your best players, it's the right balance. Other countries have good players but put them on the bench. How do you win matches, start from the back and then you get organised. It is not about the best players. We never, ever, ever learn."
 
Don't bother responding to the Gerrard hating degenerates, outraged he couldn't carry a bag of **** like he did at times with Liverpool.

Awful ffootball match, Godin shouldve been off, Cahill England's only positive and Suarez is hilariously good

I've watched a few teams play high tempo counter attacking football at this World Cup.
 
Our defence was the worst part of the game, we always knew it was weak. They just seemed to be extra weak today.

The two goals should never have been. Yes Godin should be off but that's just football. I hope Uruguay don't go far because they're just filthy.

I'm hoping Roy just puts a fresh team out vs Costa Rica. Yes we might still be able to qualify, but maybe he needs to drill home if you're **** you're out.

I would have used my balls to have some testicular fortitude and played lallana or Barkley there. Even lampard would have been more dynamic than Gerrard.

Gerrard contributed nothing to England in this world cup (he did plenty for the opposition) and basically doubled up on a job Henderson did better. Having a dynamic, mobile midfielder there would have been much more useful

Lennon was in charge when Celtic Beat Barca. I stated that because people think that all you need to do is win the league here. There's huge expectations to do well in Europe. O'Neill took them to the Europe League final so he nearly got a European trophy but has a runners up medal instead. The man who cheated him out of the trophy was Mourinho as his team was diving all over the place.

It doesn't make you less of a fan for acknowledging he was ******* shocking, which he was.
 
How about players with stupid as **** fouls when the opposition is going nowhere, nothing more infuriating in football especially when you've got a team taking the boundaries of time wasting to a whole new level.

I appreciate that every single team does it, but that doesn't stop it raging you up when it's against you.

Yes all gerrard did was slow the pace and the forward momentum
