FIFA World Cup 2014 - GROUP D [Uruguay, Costa Rica, England, Italy - 14/19/20/24 June] **spoilers**

I would have used my balls to have some testicular fortitude and played lallana or Barkley there. Even lampard would have been more dynamic than Gerrard.

Gerrard contributed nothing to England in this world cup (he did plenty for the opposition) and basically doubled up on a job Henderson did better. Having a dynamic, mobile midfielder there would have been much more useful

Do people kinda just judge performances on an assist or starting an attack for a goal or a mistake others could easily have cut out if they equally hadn't misjudged something? I'd love to watch a full 90 broken down for some people here and see if they can understand players contributions and failings.

He didn't defend and he couldn't dictate our play. Pirlo showed him how to play that role. Pirlo was just unreal at playing the ball 3 yards and completely turning England inside out.

All Gerrard did was collect the ball from the centre backs, pass the ball to the wingbacks and then look to play a trade mark ineffective "raking" pass. I didn't see him play a single pass that caused the opposition any problems and I didn't see him make a single important tackle.

I think Gerrard forgot he was playing for england and flicked the ball on for suarez thinking it was liverpool.

We are just not a good team at the moment our players are not very good technically still it is what it is.

I like Hodgson, I think he's a nice enough old man, but he's the wrong man to take England any further. I hope he resigns or at least comes to some sort of agreement with the FA.

Not sure who I'd have to replace him, though.

Suarez on beating #ENG: "I dreamt this. I'm enjoying this moment, because of all I suffered, the criticism I received. So, there you go."

If he doesn't go to Real Madrid, I hope the English press make his life a misery next season.

He doesn't like Scandinavian's Robbo. When the going gets tough he's not a nice old man.
Gerrard and Henderson in midfield was a disaster, they offered nothing in both games and Hodgson didn't have the balls to change it.

What's most worrying is that I could have told you (and said so many times on these forums) that those 2 can't play as a 2 man midfield together 2 years ago.

As I've banged on about since before the tournament, Hodgson's job was easy. Pick Gerrard, Henderson, Sterling and Sturridge in the roles they play for Liverpool, Rooney in Suarez's role and then pick somebody to fill the Allen/Coutinho role.

He had half of a very good side that's drilled in playing a certain way ready and waiting for him and he chose to ignore it.

David Moyes, he will be able to take England to even higher lows than tonight :D

I'm hoping Roy just puts a fresh team out vs Costa Rica. Yes we might still be able to qualify, but maybe he needs to drill home if you're **** you're out.

It'll be the same team :p

Roy will be "surprised" when we lose. Gerrard will talk about the team having given everything.

It's almost like we've seen it all before.

He did play an epic ball out wide to find Johnson (who'd made a good run), so perhaps you need to watch it again?

Putting aside club loyalties for a second, you would have to be severely mentally challenged, or just landed from another galaxy to think Gerrard contributed anything what so ever over the past two games.

He has been worse than useless.

So true :D

I'd like to see Lallana, Barkley and Sterling in behind Sturridge for the final game. Shaw at left back, and someone else in for jagielka - don't think Smalling or Jones are up to it but they couldn't do much worse.

What exactly has he suffered? What criticism does he speak of? The whole being a **** thing?

I do remember his meltdown at Liverpool. For England he's been okay though, but he's not a great manager, he's "steadied the ship" well enough after Capello, but he can never take us very far.

What did he say/do regarding Scandinavians?

just before that gerrard was telling players to get into positions then he cocked it up :D

lets start from back keeper is **** nearly got done twice from a corner, once maybe but twice same thing :rolleyes:

defense first goal glaring defense issue. didnt even know where he should be ball over goal.

gerrard gave other goal away.

infact the only player who made attempt was rooney and hes been taking all the stick !

what makes it so bad aswell is people like gerrard or roy just talking absolute bs about how they did well. you didn't do well it was pathetic.

suarez wasn't even fit yet managed to run infront a few times. it wasn't even the first time he tried that move.

its just something about england and how they play it needs deprogramming from the national team.
