FIFA World Cup 2014 - GROUP D [Uruguay, Costa Rica, England, Italy - 14/19/20/24 June] **spoilers**

Lol
Costa Rica v England i'd prefer not to turn up.

My thoughts exactly.
It would be embarrassing if we got beat 3 times in a row.
Best not to turn up.

Lets be honest, this England team couldn't beat Costa Coffee let alone Costa Rica.

Yep.

Didn't expect to get out of the group personally but it's downright embarrassing to be out after 2 games (first time in England's history apparently!) and yet the manager doesn't face the chop!

Yep.

For me, all players should be lined up and have eggs pelted at them when they arrive in England. These guys are an embarrassment.

I am home alone and I am cursing the England team.
Finishing bottom of the table is an embarrassment.
I said from the get go we were not good enough to get through the group stage. But given the ease with which they capitulated - this is embarrassing.
Our players showed no desire or heart.
They are picking up huge pay cheques so why bother trying?
They'll be coming back to England soon, to their mansions.
And the month for which they were on England duty, they'll heave earnt themselves another £1M, so its not all bad.

I disagree on the Rooney subject. I think he is the closest thing we have to a "star" player.
The rest of the players are very weak.
And when you mix that with a poor manager (ask any Liverpool fan and they will give you the dirt on Hodgson), you have:

0 points from 2 games
bottom of the table.
quickest exit from the World Cup in 50 years
100% loss rate.

We have to change our whole footy culture from under 11 where it should be on a small pitch and all about skill and fun not winning which should come in after 11 as a rite of passage onto proper tactics and a bigger pitch playing "real" big boys footy.

I hope Costa thump us just so Roy can get the sack. We have quality players. I bet we would have got further with a decent manager who has the balls to change the starting 11.

Rooney is crap and well overrated, we have a couple of young good players but rest are average.

It seems most of the England players only care about how fat their wage packet is,you only have to look at the teams in the poor countries to see how well they play from the heart.

I'm glad England are going home, fact is they are not good enough.

As someone else alluded to, we will probably win against Costa Rica because they're already through and will play a 'B' team against us, to protect their best players against injury/red cards.

Is it about time we went as Great Britain like the Olympics? But form a 6 nations tourny like rugby to still play the traditional teams would be a good idea I think

Best off playing the youngsters against Costa Rica and given them game time. Hopefully the press won't label them as a 'Golden Generation', though as seen with Shaw, that's not gonna be helped. Granted the kid has great potential but being linked with £27m transfers at the age of 18? Sterling who has great potential, yet feeling he risks being overplayed and overhyped. Still, the selection wasn't the best it could've been. Would've took Stones > Smalling, and Flanagan as another RB. Oh well.

Even then, team I'd name would probably be Forster, Shaw, Oxlade-Chamberlain, etc...

I wouldn't be surprised if we lost against Costa Rica as well though. Obviously they're through and can rest back but can't see them wanting to sit back for 2nd. Wouldn't be surprised if they go on and win the damn tournament if they perform like that against everyone. XD

Can't just sack Hodgson and expect everything to get better though. Guy may have not been the best choice available but there aren't many improvements around either. Better managers are already at the clubs, and just changing him won't change anything. Need to look at club culture, how youth are brought up and managed, etc. Homegrown rule doesn't force players to be English, they just need to have been here for 3 years under the age of 21. They could be Spanish and qualify. Should look a bit more towards German club culture and that.

Excluding the fact that Rooney the "star" could have us on 4points if he'd finished more than one of his stupidly easy chances.

People are acting like England were awful, they were meh, but Italy were meh as well. England had chances, almost every one of the best chances fell to Rooney and now we're out.

He's one of the least fit, least caring, most money grabbing players around. This is a guy who missed a decent portion of the season 2-3 years ago because he was sent to fat camp at what, 27 or something. Because he still isn't professional enough to be ready for the start of the season. Then he cries and whinges and threatens to leave every couple of years while failing to shine. Scoring a few mostly simple goals against mostly crap opposition. He's done exceptionally well in his career to end up where he has money/club wise, because he hasn't deserved it in the slightest. That England start him is laughable.

Wouldn't mind seeing Ashley Williams, Bale, Ramsey and Seamous Coleman mixed with the England Squad.

Hodgson should have had them pressing the ball like costa and taking Italy's play maker out of the game. This **** falls at the managers feet, he and the team have failed miserably.

As much as I've derided Hodgson's tactics for the Uruguay game, he got it right in Italy one. You can't play a fast-paced pressing game in Manaus. You'd be out on your feet within 30 minutes. Perhaps that's one of the reasons we played relatively well - because the pedestrian pace is what England is used to?

We can start against Costa Rica with a totally different set up. I bet we win. TBH I wouldn't sack Roy either, we have to stop meating through managers then dismissing them as idiots and just accept our players just don't care that much about international football. Who would be next anyway?

Harry? People only take the job because it's a huge pay packet.

Don't ship out the manager ship out the players that can't be bothered to play friendlies but play the same week for their club time and time again. We also should be playing more international friendlies or a home nations competition.
