FIFA World Cup 2014 - Semi-finals [8th - 9th July] **spoilers**

Kroos scored two relative tap ins that were laid on the plate for him. He wasn't particularly involved in most of the goals..

You do talk some rubbish his passing range and vision are exceptional. Strangely enough all the professionals and managers seem to think the same and yet you think he is rubbish. Because rubbish gets to play for Bayern Munich and the German national team. His set piece work is consistently good and its not only his ability to pass it's the speed he does it.

I think Brazil could've had a chance if Ramirez was on, Maicon, Fred, Bernard and David benched. Hulk should've been upfront. With William, Oscar and maybe Ramirez or someone else but Ramirez should've sharted whether in midfield or in more attacking role.

I don't think so, It may have been 5-0 instead of 7-1 but they would've still got beat last night. You need to be organised against the Germans and Brazil is anything but that, especially without Silva at the back to keep the defence in check, they had no chance from the whistle.

Still trying to come up with a word to describe Brazil's performance and all I've got is pathetic. Even a bunch of amateurs would find it difficult to be as shambolic as they were last night. I'd love to see this mornings Brazilian press to see what they think.

Some of these ratings are too generous :D:

Júlio César
Great block before Klose scored rebound for 2-0 and a fine save in second half from Schürrle. Left horribly exposed. 6

Maicon
Old “taxi for” had another big game to forget. So far past best that you can no longer read the sell-by date. 3

David Luiz
With Neymar and Thiago Silva out, was cast as Brazil’s new leader and talisman but flopped horribly. 3

Dante
Unlike Luiz, at least tried to stay in position and defend — but only managed the first part successfully. 3

Marcelo
Another who had a nightmare defensively but going forward was one of few to offer Brazil impetus. 4

Luiz Gustavo
Overwhelmed by the quality of Germany’s midfield runners. At least won a few tackles and made blocks. 3

Fernandinho
Offered scant protection to back four. Failed to intercept for German third goal and caught in possession for fourth. 2

Bernard
Barely significant in the game. Scolari erred by choosing him ahead of Willian as Neymar’s replacement. 2

Oscar
Tried to get Brazil going by instigating passing moves but others didn’t respond. Missed a great chance in second half. 4

Hulk
Plenty of muscle and industry, as usual, and did manage a few buccaneering runs. Poor final product, though. 5

Fred
Represents Brazil’s rejection of subtlety in favour of power under Scolari and only starts because Jo is even worse. 4

I suspect the only Brazilians getting anywhere near the ball last night were German. ;)

if you look at the stats without the scoreline it looks an even enough game...

strangest thing about it is that you cant even say ''they didnt try'' or ''didnt want to be there'' they all had their hearts in it and went at it but failed miserably. i mean the Brazilian national anthem at the start was on the greatest ive ever seen...

the importance of teamwork has been prominent all through this world cup (usa , coloumbia , costa rica , algeria etc all doing brilliant with it) but those brazillian defenders looked like they had never even seen each other before. never mind played with each other. no leader either. just a lot of individuals all wanting to be a hero and missing by a mile

robbie savage stirring it up saying they would still beat england playing like that :p

He's probably right...1-0 Brazil :p

What an incredible match though, am still stunned now. My partner is German so we had a night of german food, snacks and beer all prepared. Was a good night! ;)

The press interview with Scolari seems like a particularly stupid, petulant, emotional response; "I could do NOTHING".

Well actually, after the first two you could have thrown on a defensive midfielder for Fred to try and stop the rot, but instead you just threw your hands up in the air and did FA

whilst that was undoubtedly hilarious, i did think it was a bit mean to show close ups of kids crying in the crowd. :/

But now he's an internet hero.

If what happened in the 30mins of the match last night in a football manager game, and you were Brazil manager, you would be uninstalling the unrealistic piece of crap. :)

You can't beat the unpredictable drama of real life sport.

The most amazing thing for me is not the final scoreline. It's the way Brazil just crumbled for those 6 minutes.

Conceding 4 goals in 6 minutes is insane when you consider 1-2 mins of that is kick-off and picking the ball out of the net.

I'm glad I watched this game, because I was considering not!

David Luiz seemed to think captaincy meant having permission to neglect his defensive duties and lead every attack, if he'd just focussed on his defensive duties instead of trying to be a one man band Brazil would still have some dignity.

Doubtful. He was rooted to the ground during set pieces. He was a defender, but he wasn't defending.

Definitely rooting for Brazil now, they're the underdogs, and I want them to win it. Neymar didn't deserve that injury, but without T Silva, I don't know how they'll cope without the Germans.

I was rooting for Germany because i like how they play and the fact that this team have been groomed from an early age.

Unlike most teams in the tournament, they do not rely on one or two specific world class players.

This team plays as a team. They are the most complete team in the world cup with lots of experience.

For me, Brazil have been very poor throughout this world cup.

They have had a lot of luck and referee calls going their way and it is no surprise that when they come up against a top team, all their faults are highlighted when they took on Germany.

Brazil and the ref have themselves to blame for Naymer getting injured because when you kick the opponents star player, expect a retaliation especially when the referee doesnt punish brazil.

I am satisfied that brazil lost because truth be told, they did not deserve to be in the Semi Final

If you're all so convinced that Ozil is crap, why do you think Low, who knows more about football than every one of us, keeps picking him?

It's because he plays in a way that many mere mortals can't understand. Only yesterday was Ronaldinho picking him out as one of the most magic players he's seen.

He's not the player who scores, he's not always the player who assists, but many times, without noticing it, he's the who creates the whole move.

Jose Morinho has also said he is the best CAM he has ever worked with.

I think we should trust in what Jose and Low say about Ozil.

They are proffesional managers of the football game, we are not
