FIFA World Cup 2022 Group B ** spoilers ** (England, Iran, USA, Wales)

Yeah, not feeling it really, I will watch the England game as im off work though, but Im not in the slightest bit bothered how well we do or don't. Guess its the time of year, got more things on my mind than thinking about over paid pampered footballers and how well they do, when millions of people are suffering with cost of living crisis.

And that Fifa loons speech, wtf.

Yep same here, totally not feeling it. I usually watch as many games as I possibly can when it's a World Cup. Not this time. I will probably watch the England and Wales matches but I'm not hyped. Beyond that will have to see.

Partly it's the time of year, partly the whole scandal around Qatar hosting it in the first place and partly because I just feel that football in general is so totally out of step with the realities most people are facing with Cost Of Living and everything else that's going on. I've felt this way about the Premiership for some time too, there's a growing disconnect. So, watching a bunch of grossly overpaid, petulant footballers faking fouls for penalties just feels like a hollow experience.

And being lectured on human rights and morality by the head of one of arguably the most corrupt sports administrations on the planet, I'm just speechless really. Shame he wasn't.

It's a bit like Royalty, all the media fed cr*p goes out of the window when it counts.

Some cheeky chappy had £20 on Kane and Bale to be carded first, picks up just under 10k if it happens. No doubt they'll just give him his money back and not pay out though.
If they’re booked first, they’ll pay him. Anything else would be illegal. Bookies can’t just choose to pay out if they feel like it

Have a read through twitter about people being denied payouts lately, it's rife. People aren't being asked for anything when they lose, but if they win, bookies are asking them for payslips, 3 months worth of bank statements, notarised documents from solicitors, holding ID up to their face, querying any bank transfers to/from friends and family and then asking for the friend/family member's ID and bank statements. All of that and they refuse to pay out anyway. Happened to a mate of mine, they told him to take it to court if he wanted his money because his brother transferred him money for his birthday, so he 'must have been placing bets for a third party'.

Fifa are a joke, I wonder how much Fifa got paid for making up this bogus rule?

I imagine that Qatar have just got them by the short curlies now that the WC has started and Qatar could make it absolutely shambolic in so many ways if they wanted to. They can put pressure on FIFA to do whatever they like. Doubt any money is changing hands at this point.

Confirmed now.

England and Wales have backed down and decided not to wear OneLove armbands after a threat from FIFA that captains could face an instant yellow card for doing so.

Wearing an armband is just stupid virtue signalling, if they really cared they wouldn't be playing in the country. Time for people to just start playing football instead of trying to 'make a stand' while supporting the regime they supposedly standing against.

FIFA are a bunch of clowns but then we already knew that.

I'd play our 3rd keeper from the start as captain, let him get a yellow and then sub him off immediately for Kane. What are they going to do, give everyone who wears the armband a yellow the second they walk on the pitch? Let Kane come on without the armband. At least it's making a statement and a massive middle finger to the scumbags at FIFA.

Yes it's using a sub but it's Iran ffs, if we cant beat them with one less sub we've got bigger problems.

Naturally the WC shouldn't even be in such a backwards country in the first place but here we are.

I think this point is a little unfair, it's still a valid World Cup - regardless of the country it's being played in. It was awarded by corrupt FIFA officials over 12 years ago.

Bringing these humanitarian issues to light in a respectful way is what I think we should be doing. Qatar has no business hosting the World Cup to start with, we should use this as a chance to highlight their many inadequacies.
