Final Fantasy XIV - A Realm Reborn

Holy crap this square enix account thing is like pulling teeth, only slightly less enjoyable.

So I can log in on the website using my square enix account, yet when I try to download the Beta client and enter my details, apparently my password is incorrect. Then if I try to change my password my secret answer is not right.....wtf

Half an hour before it starts for the rest of us, 9am.

Edit - maybe not, must be using GMT so another hour :(

You can use your email address to log in on the website. But to log into the FFXIV portal you have to use your Squenix username - which isn't your password.

Oh and it's a 7.3GB download. :)

I choose to play on Moogle, but there seems to be a lot of French who don't like to speak English, any idea what server is best for English speaking players? So i can understand them? Would a NA server be best for it?

I'm on Odin and have only noticed a few people speaking German, the majority seems to be in English.however I did consider an na server. But was worried about later in game and there not been enough people for 25 man dungeons during prime time for UK players.

Going to give this a crack.

Played WoW a little when it was new, it was fun but once everyone around me started taking it really seriously I realised it really wasn't my scene so I sacked it.
Been super tempted to try Guild Wars 2 since it came out, but every time I get close to buying I think about how geeky and serious everyone on WoW was so never get round to it.

I did really enjoy the dungeons or instances or whatever on WoW, all pals playing together, was great fun.
I'm a huge FF fan so I figure I'll try the Beta and see how I get on.

I see Odin is the place to be, installer has half an hour to go so are there any noob guides or videos I should give a look before I jump in?

I appreciate I can just google, but there's quite a bit of info out there, I'm wondering if there's any that you guys specifically recommend?

Cheers

:)

No idea Chris i'm trying to avoid reading much about it for this weekend at least so i can just jump in and see if i like the game world enough to buy it.

I did have a look at this though just to make sure i chose the right class for the white mage job later on http://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Jobs

Glad you said that, I didn't really put much thought into that.

Definitely Monk for me so I guess I'll need to be a pugilist.
Quite like the look of white mage too, was a healer in WoW which is fun in the dungeon things, quite an important class.

All EU servers are full to me and i can't seem to make any characters on any of the US servers. oh well. :(

edit: actually i can't seem to make a character on any server even EU.

edit: logged out completely including the launcher and now it works.

Anyone else find the sound a bit too harsh with this game for headphones? Even turning the volumes down it was like a jolt to the ear drums each time i put them back on or alt tabbed back in. Ended up plugging speakers in for now.
