sounds like it hasn't changed from the last one combat wise! :(

Is there still a cap on leves you can do per day?

EDIT: are all the servers still in Japan for this? or do they have more localised ones now?

I played 1.0 and HATED the combat, it felt so boring. This one is definitely an improvement on that, I actually quite enjoy the combat. With Lancer being the most fun. Lancer revolves around striking from various positions, like from the flank for a +10% damage boost that'll last 10seconds, then from the back for another bonus etc. Quite involved in order to keep DPS up.

Using various parsers etc, it seems that Archer and Lancer are leading the way in terms of DPS, at level20 of course!!

EDIT: There is a cap on leves - but not like 1.0. You're not stuck for things to do if you want to play more hardcore. Unlike 1.0.

That actually does sound quite good, I always prefer a ranged class too, so might have to check this out... is it open beta or closed at the moment? or is it a case of pre-order for early access?

Thanks for that btw, much appreciated!

EDIT: in regards to Leves, awesome :) I was litterally logging in, doing my 10 leves or whatever it was, then going off again!

It was an open beta, but that's now over. Early access comes up for those who've got a preorder, on Saturday (24th).

The actual launch for those without a preorder is August 27th.

I heard that the Arcanist is 1 of the most powerful in terms of DPS but then that was from a friend who has been going on about Arcanist since I started playing the beta in Phase 3 :p

I am loving the archers damage potential so far. Compared with my level 15 Thaumaturge it was so much stronger and much more sustainable. The only thing the Thaumaturge really has going for it so far is Sleep as a crowd control, but that might change once the higher level spells come in. It is still going to be fairly bursty though as the MP control does add a nice mechanic to it but it really seems to cripple its damage atm.

cheers for that mate, I also got the error but under my Square Enix account details the game had registered.

Anyone else still waiting for their code? Still haven't received mine.

Where did you pre-order ? I grabbed it from ShopTo and the code was in my order details on the website.

You're getting the error code because EU codes are not available to be redeemed yet, apparently. Once the codes are released for purchases directly from Square Enix, you'll be able to redeem codes issued by third parties like Amazon. :)

Arcanist ATM is more than slightly OP - your first pet is decent dps on its own and will hold aggro long enough for you to stack all your dots so you get a really nice damage rate per tick. Your second pet (which you get at level 15 BEFORE you do your class quest) is very good tank and can pretty much solo any of the bosses up to level 20. Obviously it's early days yet but certainly up to level 20 (which is all anyone has seen of the Arcanist) it's the most powerful class - oh at level 4 you get a healing spell too which is exactly the same as the conjurors.

Thaumaturgists BTW are the single best DPS class for bosses / long fights since it's impossible for them to run out of mana if played correctly. Their burst dps isn't as good as Archers but they come into their own in dungeons etc where the mobs take longer to kill.

I think it's mainly just a caster thing (especially the thermaturge) with their combat being a bit lackluster. The melee classes seemed to play rather well from what I've heard.

So what server is everybody planning on starting on assuming you haven't already picked in the open beta?

I must say I have the complete opposite approach to version 1.0 this time. I played through alpha - release and pre ordered the collectors edition. Throughout the entire 1.0 beta I kept telling myself "it's only a beta, the content will come on release" then by release I found myself with nothing to do and bored out of my mind.

This time I again got into alpha for 2.0 and found that the only limit to things I could do was the actual times the server was up. Quite excited for release next week, just a shame that I don't have early access.

Arcanist does certainly have quite a few perks over the other classes currently. Also could someone who knows confirm that their limit break is the area of effect damage like thaumaturge as I never played it, i tend to avoid mage classes if possible. Not sure how the pet stats will scale at higher levels so I wouldn't be able to guess if a summoners titan could tank as well as a level 50 gladiator or marauder. I have a feeling garuda will be the favourite as ifrit being a melee dps is likely to be less used due to area of effect attacks from enemies. As far as I can tell scholar is supposed to be more healing support than damage so I would doubt that will be even classed as DPS

Pretty sure thaumaturge will have the best dps followed by lancer and pugilist. Archer leans towards a more support role as it turns into bard and gladiator and marauder are tank roles.

Thaumaturge can end up becoming a bit plain with just rotating between fire and ice and thunder where the melee dps will require moving to attack from behind and flanks to maximise damage and not to mention running away the enemies attacks.

Personally I found the tank roles of marauder and gladiator my favourite.

I got my code about a week ago. It seems well made but the only problem i have with it at the moment is that me and a friend started playing. He went as a Marauder and i a Caster. And the quest lines don't meet until level 15 or so. Which sucks as we wanted to play together.

Where abouts did you find your code on ShopTo? I've looked around the Pre-order section under which it is listed and don't see any code. Did it show up some time later after paying for it?
