Final Fantasy XIV - A Realm Reborn

I really enjoyed the bit of the beta I played, not sure if I'll pick it up though. How many copies of the game would I need if I wanted to play it on my PS3 & PC, but also to have the option of my girlfriend playing on the PS3? Would I need a PC copy and 2 PS3 copies, along with 2 subs?

I'd say 2 copies minimum - but that's dependant on whether you or your girlfriend will be playing at the same time (if you want to go down the account sharing route). Other than that, I'd say it would be 3 copies along with 2 subs, yeah.

you can use the pc account on the ps3 you just need a copy of the game on each system and 2 accounts.

one for you and one for your GF

What classes are people thinking of rolling first now you've had a chance to play a little bit?

I'm pretty certain I will be levelling CNJ to 50 in P4 and will probably give Arcanist/Scholar a go when it comes out and see how it plays.

I've only played a marauder, it didn't really excite me to be fair. I'm considering a arch/bard for release - My only problem is I'd like to play something more group worthy than just another dps.

I'm currently torn between a Conjurer and a Black Mage (had originally planned to play Archer but I enjoyed the other two a lot more), will probably give each a longer play in the next phase to really decide :p

What server/World is everyone playing on.

I'm currently on Odin (was on Hyperion in 1.0).

Next test is scheduled for this weekend starting Friday 9AM GMT as usual. No end date yet as this is an extended test for stress testing duty finder.

Ironically isn't available straight away as it isn't ready. It will be introduced via a patch during the test.

Who's going to be playing this weekend? Would be cool to test out the Duty Finder when it arrives :)

Edit: In-case anyone is still looking for a place to pre-order: Amazon is now offering the Preorder bonus (which includes Early Access, a Moogle Hat, and a Cait Sith Minion Doll) and is the cheapest place I've found for the Collector's Edition (£51.99). I put my order down when they made it available and I've already been sent my "placeholder" code (I've now moved from Zavvi, to ShopTo, to Amazon :p). Will update the OP with the new information too.

You can find out more about the game here: www.finalfantasyxiv.com.

Don’t forget to follow us on:
Early access is supposed to be for a week so I guess that comes aftr beta 4.

Hopefully they don't wipe characters and it will be a nice headtstart

I think early access is 3-5 days not a full week. Hopefully Phase 4 will last long enough to get at least 1-2 classes to 50 though anyway!

Anybody getting collectors edition or digital upgrade? I can't resist the Coeurl mount so I'll be upgrading for sure.

I'll definitely be getting the physical Collector's Edition - I'm a sucker when it comes to collecting stuff :p £41.99 isn't a bad price on PC at all considering what you get with it (and that box art omg).

A chap on my Free Company forum posted this image from reddit showing the population divide across the servers from Beta. Not sure the details (other than those at the bottom of the pic) as he just linked the picture and I can't find the thread itself. Interesting nonetheless.

Odin most popular English speaking "EU" server and most popular overall from the EU servers, not much in it all all over all though. Seems the French like Moogle and Germans split between Odin and Shiva.

Also new video showing off the Duty Finder, which is now ready and will be in ready for the start of Beta tomorrow morning!:

And a first look at one of the end game zones Coerthas:

Looks like I'll be sticking with Odin then :p come release I'll add everyone's in-game names and the servers they're on in the 2nd post (should make it easier for people to see who's where and where most of the forumites are gathering).

The Duty Finder's done already? Excellent :D looking forward to jumping into some group content.

Aye, Duty Finder looks pretty good. I think I'll still throw a few shouts out first before using it though, I much prefer the sense of community you get without tools like that.

I remember before they brought the dungeon finder into WoW and most people on the servers knew most of the regular players, once dungeon finder came out that pretty much stopped because hardly anybody talked to each other after that.

It does add a sense of community, yeah. I still remember the days of having to run around finding other players and having to wait outside the dungeons until you had enough people to summon, was great in its own way (I'm still very good friends with some of the people I met during those groups from about 8 years ago) :p while the Dungeon Finders do detract from that experience, when I'm in a hurry and unable to find others to group up with it can be a real godsend. Though with the addition of Global chat in some MMOs these days, it does feel kind of like the "bonding" is partially back as I often find myself bumping into or seeing frequenters that I end up hanging out with. Still not quite the same though :(

Coerthas looks amazing :D

Yeah that is a worry. I'd like to see them add a "same server only" option.
