**Football 19th-22nd March** 2010/2011

Carroll hasn't been great, but we know he has the ability, I suspect its a combination of fitness, the partnership and some pressure from the pricetag and maybe even some pressure from scoring before Torres gets his first. I think Carroll could do with a goal, any kind of goal, much like Suarez first goal, just to alleviate any pressure.

Well fair enough if he knocked it out already.

Don't worry about refs not knowing the rules, it goes around. We had one against Everton (?) a few weeks back that should have stood but didn't. They stopped and talked about it as well. :/

Not sure why people are making out that the pen was a terrible call. It was so close that it's still hard to be certain from the replays (if you actually try and see where contact is made rather than where the Sunderland player slides from) and with the momentum carrying the players into the area.

It was probably slightly outside the box but it's an incredible hard call for the officials. I might not have said the same thing had it gone against us though :p

Totally agree. And watching the replays again, it does look like he catches the trailing leg when Spearing is in the box, the initial tackle looks look it may not have caught him.

Doesn't help that Suarez keeps moaning at him when he doesn't get the ball back I'd imagine. On that subject, Suarez seems to moan a lot - a little worrying...

Maybe I need my eyes tested, but on the replay it looked to me like the contact was made well outside the box, and then he was just clever about it and allowed his momentum to carry him inside the box before fully going to ground. I thought it was pretty clear, but I dunno. I'll rewatch the replays at the game's end and see if I change my mind.
