Football and the Coronavirus

Unsure as to whether or not to go to Villa Park tomorrow... already said we wouldn't meet up at the pub before hand and instead just meet at the ground but even with it being open air it's a risk this close to Christmas. Desperately want to spend it with my family this year and would feel dreadful if I had to miss out on that due to isolation.

Would 100% not be going in your position. 50 odd games a year and as Robbo said, its Burnley.

Eughh, I was hoping you guys would encourage me to be irresponsible. Far too level headed a response... :(

I'll wade in with the "you've paid for the ticket may as well go" response.

If you're concerned, then just wear a mask but i would probably still go, especially with the run Villa are on at the moment. It won't last :p

What I read in a swedish news paper earlier today it stated that Aguero had a heart surgery when he was 15.
But professional football players are one of the most closely monitored athletes in the world. Any time in training and often when playing matches they have heart rate monitors as well as GPS tracers and you'd have thought they'd undergo a very extensive medical including ECG whenever they move clubs. I'm really unsure of what goes on for a Football players medical it must be said but given the shots I've seen they're fairly extensive and far removed from a check up at your local GP. Surely if any potential Heart Defect was seen in Barca's Medical they wouldn't have signed him? The same with Christian Eriksen going to Inter as well.

I don't know myself what they do in a medical exam for the pro's, but it could be something that they are aware of and not considered to be a problem until that certain moment. For example in the NHL Henrik Lundqvist, goalie with the New York Rangers was known to have a heart problem (albeit a minor one) which the docs wasn't worried about until about 2 years ago when he changed club and they found that it had gotten worse to the extent that he needed surgery for it and then retired from playing.

There saying our game vs spurs still set to go ahead, I can't see how, spurs still have cases rumour is Henderson and salah now have it.

I mean I don't see where all these postponed games will get planned in either

Villa vs Burnley called off too now.

Yesterday around midday our door buzzer went, it was my thicker than pig excrement brother-in-law, who’d taken two trains then a bus from his home near Whitstable, Kent to come up and watch Millwall play Preston.
My wife buzzed him in, gave him a coffee and a bacon sandwich and said, “How come Jean, a West Ham supporter, knew that Millwall was postponed due to Covid, your son knew, both your sons-in-law knew, both your grandsons knew, yet you schlep for a couple of hours up from the wilds only to find out when you got to the Den, don’t you read the papers?”
Sheepishly he said, “You know I don’t”, (did I mention how thick he is?).
He then had the front to say, “What’s the chance of dinner later?”
Even though he’s her only brother, she said, “None, call one of your daughters.”

I reckon they should just be played. Surely squads are big enough. Everything else has to go on and cope.
I also believe any player that is not vaccinated should not be allowed in the grounds. If a fan needs a covid pass... Then so do the players.

You realise a covid pass doesn't require a vaccination? Can get one from showing a negative test too, which all players have to do anyway.
