Football and the Coronavirus

I’m looking forward to it now. At first I found the German games boring with no atmosphere, but you quickly get used to it. I find I appreciate the actual play more too. Watching Bayern v Dortmund was a real treat in truly appreciating world class football.

Why do you appreciate the play more without a crowd? What does a crowd detract ?

Just seen on Twitter that One certain PL London club was STILL institing last week no relegation to be taken this season, we can all guess who that is can’t we:D:D:D

Just read that Lyle Taylor is not going to play for Charlton on the resumption :(

Got no chance of escaping relegation without him. He doesn’t even say it’s corona related, but that he doesn’t want to risk an injury that will scupper a move when his contract is up in the summer.

What an awful attitude. How can a club tolerate that?

That is ridiculous - if it's true. Sources?

From the manager himself on Talksport this morning

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52881671

could you see Ron Atkinson or Brian Clough standing for that? Or even Fergie? FFS that is beyond poor. Your contract runs til end June ergo you play until at least 23:59 on 30th June. End of.

Also just because you go to a big club doesn't mean things will work out. Cough *Drinkwater* cough (amongst many others).

We’re asking him to play 1 or 2 games before his contract ends to give us a better chance of picking up a few important points and he can’t even do that. Mans a disgrace.

A few players are doing it across the board apparently. League should really step in imo.

I don't know what his pay situation is at Charlton but if he does have a move lined up on significantly more money then it's easy to understand why he'd not want to risk it. The Huddersfield owner said that it's possible that as many as 50-60 EFL clubs are at risk of going under - 100s of EFL players livelihoods are on the line and any player that has certainty of a job next season will be a brave man to risk that.

What can they do though? dock him a few weeks wages? to be honest I can understand both sides, he's still contracted so he should play but when you look at it from his perspective he's got to think about doing what's best for himself, if he did get injured it could literally end his career and I don't think Charlton would be compensating him for keeping them up at his own expense.

I said it before but not sure how they can claim integrity of the competition is being upheld with so many changes in both rules and playing staff due to the suspension, it's like its own separate little season bolted onto the last.
